I just started a master's program...all online.

Sheesh...it's just the orientation week and I've spent several hours doing these itty-bitty, irritating assignments.

Well, it looks like I'm not going to have a lot of spare time to get myself into trouble for...oh...the next couple of years.

tesla,

I'm getting ready to start online classes to get a Masters of Library Science degree. I'm freaking out about the time necessary but I know if I don't do it now I never will.

I know you will do great. Good luck!

School is awesome! I just keep reminding myself that whenever I have to go to class. And do homework. And have no friends.

It'll be worth it. Good decision made.

I work in online education in higher ed.

Our masters students spend 20 hours a week on their coursework (10 hours/course).

For the most part, they all work full time, and still find enough time/energy to date, get married, move, and expand their families.

I hope once you get back into the swing of things, that you might have a bit more time than you anticipate..

I think the worst part is that on the discussion boards, I have to be very careful and not start cussing.

It's probably also just a matter of figuring out all the different little computery thingies you have to do...I'm way too used to sitting in a class, taking some notes and reading a text. All these requirements to post on discussion forums and learn several different interface programs are a bit tedious to me...I'm sure I'll get used to it soon.

Tesla,

You will ROCK this program I am sure.

All these requirements to post on discussion forums and learn several different interface programs are a bit tedious to me..

Just think of those discussion forums as .. well SI with different subject matter.

Hugs,

K

Best of luck to you both, and to hl, too.

I am just finishing up my Masters online (6 credits to go!)

I figured I had a bunch of free time, and wasn't dating, so why not put it to good use. (and of course immediately found a SO after enrolling)

While it's not my favorite learning style, I've enjoyed the challenge.

Good luck!

Tes, the time will fly by. You'll be done before you know it. Yes, having no spare time is gonna suck (coming from a person that is chained to her kitchen table while school's in session ), but just buckle down and kick ass.

You'll become familiar with the new routine in no time.

Way to go, Tes. Good job and good luck! ROCK that master's program! I'm so excited for you.

I take online classes too, though at a lower level. They start out as kind of foreign but then are not hard to make a pattern and have a flow and life of their own.

I think they're great for parents and a good source of pride and accomplishment. Sometimes the dry reading and forums really help pull my mind free of the A or Perv, too, like nothing else can.

Good luck, Tesla and others.
