I am an engineer for a plastics company. My role is to take the new products developed by R&D and scale them up to commercial scale, move them to plants around the world for manufacturing and troubleshoot any operational issues that are causing poor quality. I really love working in plastics processing.

My goal is to someday be able to start my own company developing and manufacturing plastic compounds.

Started out washing dishes at 15 ...

Mcdonald's - Call me the drive thru Nazi ... I was ruthless

convenience stores ...

Bartender/cocktail ... some of the best/worst years. I will be forever grateful for these years ...

Several years in retail ...

Childcare Ast. teacher ...

Juvie corrections ...

All while trying to "find" myself ... Once I found me I worked thru getting my Assoc. in health science and worked as an MA(Medical Asst.) ... Then I came here, moved to OK and went back to school for my PN(Practical Nursing) once I passed NCLEX I became an LPN(Licensed Practical Nurse) ... And I now work FT for an Internist ...

Pretty much nothing I cannot do. All of it has been irreplaceable in my career as an LPN. I can relate to almost any PT on some level. Empathy/Sympathy can be faked, but true caring for PT is something that cannot be faked. I think my PT know this, why some of them respond to me so well, and why others do not. I can smell shit/lie a mile away.

I am currently an online cooking web site owner and editor, and am an early childhood educator by degree, having taught preschool and kindergarten years ago.

But, I am feeling like it is time for a change.

Author? Paralegal? Ultra Sound Tech?

The next chapter of my life is blank and waiting for the narrative

Here's an early welcome to the fold, scaredyKat. It's a really tough job, so it's good there will be more to share the load soon! Maybe we can hold a conference somewhere for a few days to discuss how to improve the process!

I'm a lawyer. While I've practiced several types of law, the federal death penalty appeals are the toughest. My undergrad degree is Political Science and I had ambitions of running for public office but I'm over that. I've been taking a break and not working as much and I'm attempting to finish up another degree in women's studies. This came about after being selected to work at the United Nations during the International Conference for Women and Girls and I got interested in helping incarcerated women, world-wide.

Previous to having children I worked in administration for large corporate companies, Rolss-Royce, G.E. for 18 years. Stopped working the day before my first child was born, was a SAHM for 16 years until he left and filed for divorce.

Could not get back into the workforce - took the bull by the horns - put myself through Cosmetology School, got my license and now I have found my calling. I LOVE my new career of Hair Stylist.

He left the week before my 50birthday. The best present ever!!!

@scaredyKat: We'll have to choose an exciting resort destination and I will begin researching *best practices* for us to use going forward.

Anyone else want to join us? I've seen a couple of other hardworking retirees posted here.

I graduated from college with two degrees - one in Finance and one in Sports Management. My dream job was to have a financial type position with a professional hockey team. Never got there.

Instead, I've been with my current company since I was 19. I work for a very large bank.

Started as a part-time temp doing some menial admin work for the brokerage firm when they were going through a transition.

Then I took on a full time position as a licensed sales assistant working with the financial advisors.

Then when I got bored on the brokerage side, I jumped over to the private banking division and was a sales assisant there for a bit. That job was assisting our super wealthy clients with whatever they needed.

About 5 years ago, I got tired of dealing with clients, and took a business support position within the private bank.

So now I am a Business Support Manager, which I love. I do all sorts of stuff... it's an internal position, I don't deal with clients but rather our sales and management teams. I spend most of my time reviewing and analyzing sales reports, forecasting sales results, and dealing with the P&L and other financial issues. I also am very involved in data integrity and I am responsible for making sure our sales teams commissions are processed and paid out accurately. I also get to test out new technology and systems and work on other random projects that pop up.

It can be a stressful job, but I actually really love it!
