I don't have a function to get apps on my phone - I still just have a "regular" cell phone. Maybe that will be my present to myself if I can do this for 30 days. Upgrade to an IPhone!!

I had my last one on April 15 at approximately 10:16AM. It hasn't been terribly easy (especially the first week) but it has been worth it. I went cold turkey (didn't use an e-cig, although that was my backup plan if I had failed) and my saviors when I had a bad craving were baby carrots and pushups. I've stopped eating so many carrots but I still get down and do a few pushups every day.

Anyhow, congratulations! You can do this. You're stronger than your habit.

Wow click, that makes 5 people (not including me) who were motivated to quit by my tongue cancer. Almost makes it worth it

An e-cig? looks like this

that's a pretty good explanation of what it is and what it does.

My current one looks like this

the battery is the same as the first pic, but the thing on top is something called a clearomizer. It holds the liquid (in the clear part) and uses a wick to atomize it. I like that better because I can buy any liquid I want and fill it, and it's reusable like 20-30 times before the coil pops.

There are literally thousands of e-liquid flavors/nicotine levels/types available. I currently like the tobacco/caramel/vanilla blends the most. No, it doesn't taste like a real cig, it tastes way better.

Plus it won't kill me

PM me if you want more info. I am smoke-free since May 5 using one of these- and before that I had never been able to go a DAY without a cig.

Click,
You still get the nicotine, just like the gum or patche, etc. With the ecig, the nicotine is delivered through steam in a cigarette type device. You inhale and exhale the steam. There are many different brands and many different favors, including menthol.

There is no smoke, no fire, no ash, no smell, no poisonous gases, or the other 100's of toxic chemicals that are in cigarettes. It's just heated flavored water with nicotine.

Studies have shown that nicotine is o more dangerous than caffeine.

I use the Blu e-cig. You can buy a disposable Blu e-cig at Walgreens for $9.99. They last for about what 1-2 packs of cigs would last.

How neat - its a wonder everyone doesn't stop buying cigarettes and just buy those!!

I bought some nicotine gum today ($23 ) and I chewed one piece and thought I was going to choke. At first it was fruity and fine and then all of a sudden my throat felt like it was on fire and I kept coughing. I tried to tough it through as it says chew for 30 mins, but I could only do it for 15. Man, I spent $23 on this and I dont' think I can do it again.

I couldn't chew that stuff either. It always felt like it was going to burn a hole in the side of my mouth. Plus it tasted like shit. Bleh!!

There are a lots of brands of e-cig. I started with V2 Cigs. I still use their batteries but I use something called a clearomizer instead of the cartridge that looks like a cig filter. I find that the clearomizers have better taste, plus you can see how much liquid you have left.

To answer your question- no, I have ZERO desire to go back to a regular cig. In fact I can stand next to people who are smoking, while I'm vaping, and it doesn't bother me at all. I don't want a regular cig.

With that said- there are loads of options and the trick is finding the right equipment, liquid flavor, and nicotine strength that works for you. Sometimes it takes a little effort to find it- but it's soooo worth it.

Both my regular doc and my oral surgeon recommended this to me as a way to stop smoking. They told me that nicotine is no worse for you than caffeine- it's the delivery system (burning carcinogenic tobacco) that'll kill you.

At first I found it a little frustrating because it didn't feel just like a cig (It's heavier and you hold it differently). There's no beginning and ending like when you smoke a cig. And you don't draw on it the same. Unfortunately, most e-cig companies don't prepare people for what's different and how to get the most out of an e-cig- so people get frustrated and give up. Especially when they know regular cigs ("analogs") are sooo easy... take it out of the pack, light it, and you're good to go.

But the effort in learning to use an e-cig effectively is well worth it. I can sit on my back patio on a summer night with a beer and enjoy a good vape, without any of the guilt... or cancer LOL.

Now that's priceless

thanks Eranda, you've definitely done your homework! If there is no beginning or end, how do you know when to stop? Is there a line of water that evaporates or something?

I'm on day 3 and hanging in there....can't believe I've made it this far.

No way, love. A few of my favorite people in the world are trying to quit smoking. I just wish there was some way I could help.
