I'm so glad they took mine. Had a stone block the bile duct and ended up in ER over new years with acute pancreatitis. Almost septic.

Five days later took the gallbladder and I feel great!!! Some issues after fatty foods but frequent small meals during dayand kale regularly...also cut out drinking and chocolate except for treats here and there.

I have lupus and noticed HUGE decrease in outbreaks since I had it yanked.

Scars are teeny and the improvement in health is monumental. Yeah, childbirth is a freaken' breeze to what I went through.

Don't read on line. I read weight gain problems everywhere. Not true at all. In fact have problems maintaining healthy weight. Other people said same thing.

I also had mine out a few years ago. I couldn't take the attacks anymore, so I scheduled my own surgery even though I was told I didn't "have to".

You will feel a world of difference once its done. Will take few months for your body to adjust as far as feeling gassy after you eat certain foods, but its well WORTH IT.

Good luck on your surgery and take advantage of the downtime to recover. Recovery should be rather quick.

Meta, no worries, didn't feel that way at all! Honestly, most of the time all I can really do is laugh at it. I just imagine what people are thinking as a lady with a crazy look in her eyes goes running into the bathroom! Plus my whole family knows the situation by now, so we make plenty of jokes about it.

Misskirby I'm with you. I HAVE to be a near bathroom ... HAVE TO.

It's good the thing is gone because I was so miserable but there is no such thing for me anymore like lunch and grocery shopping or dinner and a movie. All the eating has to be kept separate from anything else I want to do ....

I also had bathroom issues after having mine removed. It lasted a couple of years. I noticed that it wasn't as much of an issue if I didn't eat high fat foods, so I try to watch that.

I have to be careful what I eat now. My stomach hates fried or overly fatty foods but that's about it. And the only things that make me feel sick are things I shouldn't eat anyway so it's pretty easy to avoid them

My scars don't hurt and you can barely see them. Just 3 little scars.

The attacks started out painful but manageable. The longer they went on though? Oh my god. Pain like nothing else. I am a pretty private person and I was actually pacing the halls of the hospital moaning and crying and I actually threw up in the hall in front of a bunch of people. I'd have the surgery a thousand times over rather than one of those attacks again!

Good Luck and enjoy some extra days off of work....

Miss Kirgy and others with the rapid dumping issues, have you discussed this with your Dr? This is NOT normal. Yes Fatty foods can cause this, and make it worse. However there are a few simple tricks that may help this issue.

Get a Probiotic, any will work, this is the good bacteria your gut needs to be healthy. Without it rapid transit can be a real issue. Align is a common one, but has been associated with gas for the first week or two. Florastor is a better one, and works well. You take one tab twice a day for 2 weeks, and cut back to one a day and take for at least a month, you can take it forever if you see a big difference.
The other thing you need to do is a Fiber, yes Fiber, many people are under the mistaken impression that fiber makes you poop. This is not true. Fiber is the glue that holds it all together, and gives your stool bulk and substance. You need to use one that you mix with water or juice and drink. It is litterally a sponge. So when the food goes zipping through the small intestine, the fiber grabs it, and slows it down. Try doing both of these things for a good 30 days, and see if you have improvement. I bet you will.

I had the same "run to the bathroom" issues everyone describes after having mine removed last year. My doc told me to eat one small Activia a day, it solved the problem in a few days. If I skip eating it for a day or two if I can't get to the grocery store, I'm running back to the bathroom. I swear by that stuff.

If you want closure, start with your legs.
