The notice came in the mail that our first hearing is scheduled for the end of July, three days before the (not going to say "our") 10th anniversary. Does waffle care? Apparently not. For him, it seems to be the next step in the process, sooner the better. I didn't get into it too much with him. He went on to try to make conversation about the first stage of the Tour de France. Shut up, asshole.

My counterclaims are in. Court seems so intimidating when it's about you. Court for work is another day at the office. Court for me will fray my last nerve.

Perhaps the better question is why I expect him to care. I realize the marriage is over, and I am starting to look forward to moving on from it. If he had reacted to the hearing notice with sobs, I probably would have laughed. So why am I worried that he doesn't care at all?

Damn you, grubby tentacle.

Edit: The reason we were in contact in the first place is because he is taking the kids next week for his summer parenting time. I need to get better at keeping a conversation initiated for a kid purpose, on track.

Practice makes perfect hun. You'll get better at NC each time you break it and have a new hurt.

Stop focusing on him and what he is thinking/feeling and put the focus back on you.

He is always going to be him.

You are going to heal from this.

I may have reached a point where I'd piss on him if he was on fire.... eventually!!
