BS and I had such a good day yesterday. We washed the car, shopped together, made really good food and watched fireworks over the town and ocean from our perch up here in the mountains. Just normal stuff for a fourth of July, from the outside, but from the inside it felt like so much more.
I remember Mount St Helens erupting in 1980 and the total destruction of the surrounding landscape that followed. Some time ago I read an article that showed the beginning of the regrowth process. Tiny, determined plants pushing doggedly up through the cracks of devastation. That's what yesterday felt like to me.
I said this to BS as we sat there watching the distant bursts of color and light, and he said he felt it too.
