I am so very proud of my ds! She is 14 and will be a freshman in HS this yr. 5&6 grade she played the clarinet and hated it. Every day she begged her band director to let her switch to drums. The answer was always no. In 7th grade she got a new band director, who was a percussionist herself, who said "tell your mom to buy you some sticks" she has practiced her heart out. Friends will call wanting her to go hang out and she almost always says, no I have to practice. Our high school band is very good. One of the last remaining military style bands in the country and the only one left in our state. For those that don't know, military style means we are all about straight lines and the music, we have no flags or twirlers... no dancing or running around on the field. Very disciplined band. They march together EVERYWHERE they go! At competitions and parades everyone always stands in awe as they march past. Usually freshman percussionist play cymbals or if they are really good they can play one of the smaller bass drums. The elite of the percussionist are on the snare line and are usually Jr and Sr. Well... my dd MADE SNARE LINE as a freshman! The percussion instructor said she was "freakishly good" I am so proud of her! All her dedication and hard work paid off!!! I just want to shout it from the roof tops!!!!

There is something immensely satisfying about seeing your child do what they love and put their all into it.

Wooo Hoooo!!!!!!

Nothing like watching your kid working and succeeding at what they love. Great job mommy.

Thanks everyone! Just got back from watching them practice. Couldn't wipe the smile off my face! So proud of both my girls (older dd plays tenor sax) I have no idea where they got their musical ability! I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket! Lol
