I keep wondering if XH has turned into a chameleon as a consequence of his midlife crisis.

In the past he would have never, ever been up for camping. That was so beneath him. Actually, nothing but the Four Seasons was good enough for him.

Well, he must have discovered his inner outdoor persona. Sparkly panties, her daughter, my DDs and him are going camping with an actual tent (no RV, no huts) tomorrow.

Either I was married to a total liar or he seriously hit his head. I see this more and more with him, everything he despised in the past with a vengenance is really cool all of a sudden.

Yeah mine's done the same stuff too.

Before he could never wear shoes that had laces. Now he wears them.

He bitched that Northface was stupid and expensive - this past winter he rocked a jacket from them.

I guess sparkly vag's do that to ya?

ETA: OW in my case talks about loving camping too - I laugh bc my ex is far too lazy to do that and never once showed an interest in camping.

The Great Dane is going too :-) And a little devil in me is hoping that with all his energy and puppiness he will at least once destroy the tent.

DD10 told my parents via Skype that the puppy is not allowed to be out of the kennel at XH's house. Only for walks, because the puppy is so energetic and destructive. Really?

Here the puppy was out of the kennel; he could be with us within reason and had a nice space on the deck to watch the backyard and surroundings. I feel sorry for the dog.

XH has no camping gear either, he does not even own a sleeping bag. So now he wants to borrow my sleeping bags for him and the girls as well as my other gear I bought when camping with the Girl Scouts - ahem, no, go buy your own.

Oh, here is another one. A couple of years ago I discovered kayaking and loved it. A friend of mine has kayaks in our local harbor and so we would go out and kayak. I would ask XH to join, my friend would have been happy to lend us the kayaks but he would tell me that kayaking was boring and that paddle boarding was the 'in' thing. Even in Bora Bora, where we had glass bottom kayaks and could watch the fish swim by as we were leisurely gliding through the water, he was not interested.

Guess who just came back from a kayaking trip?

Do people really change that much or did he just not want to do things because I liked them?

I will never, ever, ever put up with a partner like that again. I put so many of my interests on the backburner for him and now he goes and rubs it in my face and on top of that, tells the kids that I was the one who would not want to do stuff?

This 'quirk' is how I always knew when XWH had a new piece of tail on the hook.

All of a sudden he had a new style of music that he was into or a new hobby he was into (even if it was something I'd already suggested and he previously shot down).

They basically take on sparkle panty's interests so that they have sooooo much in common (insert gag here).

XWH also went on a camping trip (tents, no RVs etc) with some piece he was doing. Mind you, this is a "man" who had to put on plastic gloves to change a flat tire.
