Just curious, for those who are currently on line dating, how much time do you spend on the site or communicating with people who you met from the site but have not yet met in person?

Please estimate the number of minutes/hours per day/week.

When I was on the first time, about 60-90 minutes/day, so 7-10 hours/week (yikes!)

I took a break of about 6 months and went on again earlier this month. I spent about 30 minutes/day 3-4 days/week and after about two weeks met the guy I'm currently seeing. I think we sent 3 e-mails back and forth before meeting.

I am currently open if someone excellent comes along, but am not actively looking, so I only poke my head in most days and read the emails. I am chatting with one guy but its been slow and I don't think either of us are wildly interested. In any case I am on less than 5 minutes a day I would think, maybe a little more if you count reading the emails as well, but not much more.

When I was more actively looking, I made sure I updated my profile a little or answered more questions at least weekly to stay on top of the lists, and got a ton of traffic as a result. I also looked at profiles actively myself. So I spent a good bit more time at it. Maybe half an hour a day?

I'm only on eharmony and the few matches I get, I immediately move them to the discard pile.

Only one person I have contacted, but he hasn't been on in awhile and hasn't responded.

So I check twice a day for a couple minutes. That's all.

when O.L.D. was new and shiny and exciting I averaged about 60 minutes a day on line. Now, its more like 15 to 20 minutes a day to check message and do a search to see if anyone is new and/or interesting.

Communicating is different now too. At first I liked to talk via email for a week or two, now I will send two or three emails before setting up texts or phone calls. I've learned to meet someone within two weeks of beginning to message or it is too much of a time suck for too little of a return. I can't tell if I "click" unless we meet in person and I'd prefer to discover that sooner rather than later.

When I was online I would only spend 15 minutes per day a few days per week checking and responding. I really didn't like it that much and always asked to move to a phone call or in person meeting.

It is definitely a time suck.
