I would pay someone to take the puppy out to pee every 30 minutes. That's all I want today. And a nap

ANd I would buy Teddy a brand new floatie for the pool
With that kind of money, why doesn't he get a Teddy sized pool that doesn't require a floatie?

Now suckers bet or not, they don't sell the tickets here, but if I did win, while travelling I would stop by and drop off a new floatie for Teddy.

Sorry Meta, I'll be driving Miss Daisy, living the high life and petting Kyle and Teddy for a living. Maybe you'll win a few bucks on a scratcher and can find someone for puppy potty.

I'd give a large chunk of it away...family, favorite charities, etc. (don't worry, I won't forget about SI).

Then trust funds for the kids.

Now the fun stuff!! I would build a home, complete with secret passageways, slides, and a ball pit. I would also buy an RV and home-school the kids for a year as we drive around the country, actually visiting and experiencing everything they teach them in school.

Minions.

Ok, a lawyer, a financial adviser, and a personal assistant.

Then staff. Which the personal assistant would hire for me.

A chef, a gardener, a handyman, a personal trainer. Perhaps a driver.

Trusts, of course, for people I care for, and people who have been good to me in the past. Which includes SI. It is a long list. But then, it's a lot of money.

<This paragraph is a placeholder, made necessary by the "no politics" banner. but rest assured, I have causes.>

Then My Lady and I begin our travels. After Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, I might set some goal like touring the capitol buildings of all 50 states. Or all the major league ballparks. Or all the National parks.

I don't imagine it would be a stress-free life. But it's a totally different kind of stress.

Take care of yourself. There's a great future out there. It won't come to you; you have to go to it.

Minions.

LOL! First I would call an emergency meeting with selected peeps at work, and let them know we won. We have a deal - if one wins, we share with the others in our little group. Then we'll all submit our resignations in a very loud and celebratory way!!! The requisite visits with lawyers and financial advisors. Then I want one of those really BIG checks for show and a wire transfer to my credit union. Won't they just pee their pants?!?!? No stinking banks for me. Set up the various family members in appropriate ways - houses, cars, payoff student loans, all that. Establish a foundation for philanthropy. Take classes so I will know when someone is trying to rip me off. Online classes, so I can travel. I would spend a fortune on travel for me and my pals and kids. And I would totally have a personal assistant - a VERY well paid personal assistant, so she is loyal and not tweeting embarrassing things to the world.

Not that I've thought about this or anything...

Penthouse condo downtown for me.
Lake house for my parents. Or the funds for them to design it themselves, since they'd prefer that.
529 accounts for my brother's (someday) kids.
Investments.
Maybe a car? That's a lot of hassle though, owning a car.
Charity.
Kate Spade purse. Maybe 2.

ETA: I suppose my standard of living would go up. I might even finally feel like I can afford to join a CSA.

H and I talk about this occasionally.

First pay off all bills and even get a fair amount of credit on them.

I'd quit my job with a polite (or not so polite in some cases) "Kiss my ass!"

Set up trusts for the grandkids.

Help DD and her SO with what they/the kids need.

Buy the property that my Hs employer's business sits on (quite a few acres of what used to be a fruit farm) and fence it all in so the dog can run as much as she wants without us worrying. Build a small(ish) house (3 or 4 bedroom/2 bath). Buy a newer vehicle, a motorcycle so we could road trip where we wanted.

Help MIL and FIL with bills and their house. SIL and BIL with theirs. My family? Dunno.

With part of the money, I'd do my best to buy out the yarn stock of 3 or 4 JoAnn Fabrics stores.

Donate to reputable charities and of course SI.

Invest a large portion and live off the interest.

One thing I'd do just for personal satisfaction (and it's more than a little vindictive) is find my ex's family just to rub their noses in it. Maybe make them wish they hadn't treated me like crap.

If you look at lottery tickets as entertainment, rather than investment, then you aren't losing money, but rather, spending it to entertain yourself with the dreaming.

First thing? Turn in my work badge and laptop. Sayonara, suckers!
Next, pay off debts
Then invest for my kids
Hire staff, including a private instructor for DD, a chef/nutritionist, personal trainer, and personal assistant for starters.
Hire staff for my sister (who's single parenting two very busy boys)
Fund my pet causes, with SI at the top of the list right next to Parkinson's research
And then travel the heck out of this planet while I still can.
