If I may say so, my DD13 is really turning out to be a nice person. Of course 'we' have our moments, as I am her mom...but overall, she's someone I am proud to know and feel proud that I helped raise her.

Of course, I've always thought she was great...but now I literally have outsiders vying for her time and such.

I have the school coach asking for her to play basketball (which she is totally good at). We went to practice the other day and he rode her hard. She wasn't happy about it, but she knew why he did it. She played her ass off and impressed.

I have the art teacher at school asking for her to be on the yearbook committee.

At her school, the kids have to do 'service hours' and they do so at a retirement home. I have the director of that telling me how great DD is with dealing with the elderly. All the 'old folks' there love her.

I think I'm in awe of her sometimes; she's just a really cool kid. She is sweet, kind, works hard and goes above the expected.

I was never like that and I admire that she is. She 'does' what she likes and doesn't care what her peers think. I wish I could say I had a big hand in that, but I think it's just who she is.

(And she keeps reminding me she can get her driver's permit next year. Not sure I love her THAT much!).

Just wanted to shout my DD out. She's really a neat kid.

Congrats on raising an amazing kid. Way to go mama!

Yay mama! It is nice to be proud of the people they become. She should be proud of herself for these things too.

PS. Print this and keep it for those days when you want to put her on the street with a cardboard sign.

My daughter now 34 was like this, and I can tell you, she is still a joy and a blessing. Your daughter sounds like she will always be a treasure. And whether you think so or not, I'm sure a big part of that is your leading by example and teachings.
