At what age do kids need baths every single day? when can they start to do it all themselves?
DS LOVES showers, but doesnt like to wash his hair or anyhing. DD LOVES baths, but i can't put her by herself because she thinks she's a fish and tries to breath underwater /faint.
Anyway, needless to say, they dont get a shower every day, but I was wondering when that needs to start?
We typically try every other day unless they need it/are dirty/need to expend energy before bedtime. While they are at daycare during the week - they need it, so they get one almost every weekday. They started a new daycare two months ago and it's very different from where they were at, and they play outside and play hard (we're in Florida) and get to very dirty.
I've been told once they start to get stinky is when they should bathe daily, but just from reading parenting boards, there are a lot of opinions out there both on the parent level and at the pediatrician level as to the "how often should children bathe" question.
Usually by 9 or 10 when more's going on with their bodies I'd say.
Alea iacta est...
DD on the other hand sounds a lot like yours, loved the tub, wanted to swim in it. She also had 10 tons of hair, and really wasn't good at washing it or brushing it on her own until she was about 8.
I did bath them together a lot, and probably longer than most parents would, hell it was just easier that way. Fill the tub throw em both in, let em soak for 10 minutes to loosten the grime, scrub em both down good, rinse em, and let em play for another 10 minutes. Of course it was all part of my military presicion bedtime routine, i was very militant about bedtime, and sleep, still am. Winter was the best when they couldn't tell time though....I could get them to bed at 6:30 or 7 a lot. That left a whole evening for me. but I digress.
I would not leave them alone in the tub, but would bring a load of wash into the bathroom to fold, or pluck my brows, or busy myself but keep an eye on them.

God bless the dark nights
I also busy myself in the bathroom or play when they're in... I'm partial to the odd bath toy.
During warmer days its a day to day judge situation.
Dd I force her to clean herself. She is almost 8. I oversee and advise.
Ds almost 6, I still help him. He hates his hair washed...even with sudless shampoo.
Your two I wouldnt leave alone. Too young.
Personally I bathed my kids nearly every day since they were born. They played outside a lot,

(We have been a pretty much every other day family, unless of course they get sweaty or overly dirty...imagine..kids getting dirty)
