Is there anyone who experienced moderate hair loss in the months after DD and into *trying* to reconcile?

My hair is visibly thinner and I notice more strands coming out in my hairbrush, in the shower, etc. Sometimes a clump of 5-10 strands comes out at once.

I just had a physical...my iron is at the low end of normal and thyroid function is normal (I've been hypothyroid and medicated for it for over 2 decades). I'm starting to take iron, biotin and Vitamin D supplements in an effort to strengthen the cycle of hair growth/renewal. But probably the obvious question...what will help me end this hair loss? Is it just a matter of having to go through this R process (and possibly D)?

Stress is likely the culprit, unless there are other serious conditions going on. A lot of BS's will suffer mild to severe hair loss for months following dday. If it is stress related, talk to your physician about medication. Good luck.

Yes. This is me
I have insanely thick hair so although I see it nobody else would notice (yet)
Publicly if it became noticeable I will blame it on stopping breast feeding. My 12 year old is so observant I need a cover story for everything.
Hope it gets better for you soon womaninflux x

Months after Dday my hair stylist mentioned that my hair looked like it was thinning in the back, ask if I had been checked for thyroid issues. I knew immediately what the problem was: a cheating husband.

The tremendous stress that followed after Dday caused weight loss and hair loss. Fortunately, the hair loss stopped as my life settled down. I am surprised I have any hair left at all.

Yup, I had stress related hair loss. It was very noticeable. I took Biotin supplements and used a shampoo and conditioner for hair loss. It took 6 to 9 months + for it to slowly grow back in. My hairstylist is a friend and she in fact asked me what was going on in my life as she could see from the hair loss and weight loss that something was up. Once she heard the story she was very sympathetic and went to a lot of effort to cut and style my hair in a way that would make the hair loss less obvious.

Good to know it happens to other people. I was complaining to my hairdresser just a few weeks ago about how I had lost so much hair and had so many areas where for some reason, the hair was so much shorter than others. She told me is was stress. She knew about my WS affair and said she was not surprised.

Same here at a year out. My hair is so much thinner than last year. For months after DDay I couldn't and would not allow myself to go one day without heat styling though. I thought looking my best would help my husband come out of the fog faster. I'm doing the vitamin thing now too and using argon oil serum to try and strengthen what's left of my strands. My anti depressants also suppress my appetite and I'm within 8 lbs of being my high school weight. I think vitamins make me feel better all around.

I had this problem also, good news is- four years later and it is back to normal for the most part. I think if it is stress related it does come back. I'm just glad I had really thick hair to begin with or I think I might have gone bald in the back!

I was losing hair right along with the weight for the first year. It is stress related. I have no doubt that's what caused it for me.

A woman I know lost both of her sons in a fire that she and her husband survived. It turned her hair white, overnight. She woke to huge parts of her hair totally white. It hasn't changed either. It stills grows white in those areas and it's a very unusual pattern. So much so that I asked about it....

God bless us, everyone.

Same, I have always lost an amount of hair but since DD it comes out by the brushfull. You can tell where I've been by the hair trail. My whole family has commented on it. Thank goodness i have quite thick hair and no visible thin patches - yet!

I have one third of my hair left. I have to style it to cover up the thin spots. My face aged ten years on PA DDay and I do not even know the person in the mirror any more. I continue to have major stress and my body is not responding well. I lost weight at first, but now it is creeping up no matter what. I have stress belly fat now. Seriously? Isn't the pain enough?

let's see.

I had a really bad tooth ache for days. Dentist did not see any problems and asked how my stress level was! ding, ding, ding.

Stomach ache for months - some describe it as all the butterflies dying in your stomach.

Two rounds of hemorrhoids. As a cyclist that really sucked!

But to date not a noticeable increase in hair loss. At least not more than normal for a middle aged man. But will definitely keep an eye on that.

Same exact thing happened to me with all the stress.

Take Biotin supplements. The highest you can get.

I take 5000mg/day and it's helped tremendously.

My nails and skin look great too!

Apparently back pain can originate from stress too.

Oh yeah, my hair fell out like crazy after D-day. My friend told me that this happened to her mom after her dad died. It has an actual name for it too. But don't be scared, it's actually quite normal.
