We got most of our cards at once, then I think 4 stragglers the next day, but we opened them over a 3-4 day period. So nice to have opening a batch of cards to look forward to each evening as a way of connecting. Thanks to all who participated. Just seeing the variety of designs and signatures gave me a sense of belonging to a large family with varied, fascinating and caring members. And thanks especially to DS, MH and the elves.

Got three more a couple of days ago. I am glitterized all over again. On top of that Rite Aid was selling this super sparkly, glittery wrapping paper that DDs begged me to get. So, sparkly stuff all over again. My cleaning guy is coming to tomorrow. I will tell him not to bother and just focus on the no -glittery parts of the house.

As for my coffee date with the post office sweetheart - happening tomorrow. He is off, I am working from home. I will keep you posted.

Canada Post is going to do away with home delivery

How are you going to get your mail?? Does everyone have to have a PO Box now?

Sounds liek a potential business opportunity for someone who can make it efficient.

Canada Post not delivering door to door is reflecting the times.
Mail is dwindling.

gahurts:
They now have community mailboxes set up in new developments. It would be like the mail room in an appartment or condo building but set up outside. You have a small box and you have to walk a bit to pick up your mail.
It's not a new thing. It's been slowly changing in urban areas.
I get mostly junk mail in my mailbox and most government stuff is still mailed through Canada Post.

I think the only people that are worried about this are elderly and infirm people.

The most mail I have ever received has been just last week with the card exchange.
I never get mail on a Friday although I know the mail carrier is in the area since I see his truck.

It's a sign of the times.

One lonely card arrived for me today. It had a plain white label and no postmark, so I opened it. No glitter poured out, but it has some cute pups sleeping on a candy cane and a stocking that are accented in glitter as well as having a glittery border.

I was surprised to see that it was a SI greeting card after all. Thanks Cantlivewithouth & SerJR! Thought you would like to know your card arrived. That's the second card I've opened. JRC's Happy Hanukkah card was first. Now I need to open the rest tonight. Glitter time!

Edited for a bad typo

I was walking back to my truck tonight from the ATM when, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a shiny head's up penny at my truck near the rear. You could hear me exclaim, 'ere I got in my truck, "Thank you SI(ers), may it bring me good luck."

Oh OK. We had these in Houston. We called them cluster boxes. We are not converting to this but some new neighborhoods have them, others have mailboxes out at the curb (what I have now). The neighborhood I grew up in (my parents' house) has the mailbox mounted directly on the house at the door. I don't think you can get that anymore. My mail person complains when she has to get out of the truck because we are parked in front of the box.

I misunderstood and thought Canada Post was eliminating home delivery.

Sorry for the T/J

My mailbox right now is right outside my door.
To be correct, they are eliminating door to door delivery.

I think most places are heading that way.

ETA: I still have to get my picture posted of my card display. I have not received all the cards yet, around 60 so far, but the weather has been bad and I expect there to be straglers.

Opening cards from SI is the best way to spend Christmas Eve.

Tred and SandAway - I was expecting the heavy glitter but wow! That was amazing

Brandon, The tinsel got me laughing hard.

So Very Sad Now - What a neat card!

Of course Aubrie and QS, I was expecting the glitter from you and you did not disappoint.

Thank you everyone so very much. It's good to consider you all friends.

DS and MH and the elves - Thank you so much for doing this each year. This is my second year and it is so much fun and so great to feel all the love from SI.

Sorry it took so long to post pictures.

But this is my fireplace.

And my brother, who (like me) speaks sarcasm fluently, said, "I like it. But what you need are a few more Christmas cards."

And I said, "I know, right? So here's the piano!"
