Week 11 proved to be just your average tornadoes in November, fan falling, dreadlock yanking boring week in the NFL, with a couple of really good comeback wins for dessert. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by Sunday’s offseason storms, which stretched across many Midwestern states.

It now looks like I have to peddle WAY back to my angst about Thursday night games, because we had another good one on our hands, with Indy coming back from behind (again – 6th time this year) to win over Tennessee with an Adam Vinatieri field goal that was *just* over the crossbar. Speaking of Vinatieri, he tied his career best with his fourth field goal from at least 50 yards this season. Not bad for an old fart. Let’s hope Indy keeps it going to the playoffs to give coach Pagano something to feel great about after his awful season (in more ways than one) last year. Math proved not to be Geno Smith’s friend on Sunday, what with just eight completions divided by three interceptions. The other rookie QB on the field, EJ Manuel, put up better numbers and the win going 20 for 28, 245 yards and two TDs. COMMON SENSE WARNING: DO NOT SLIDE DOWN AN UPPER DECK’S RAILING – no matter how cool it looks, as a Jets fan attempted and miraculously survived. Here’s hoping he recovers from his shoulder injury to see the error of his ways and the other fan he hit and sustained a head injury also recovers and then nails his ass in court.

The Bears took full advantage of an almost two hour weather delay to erase a Baltimore 10-0 lead, returning to play in post-tornado conditions. When was the last time you saw a goal post repair during a game? Should the weather be blamed for Joe Flacco's poor performance? Only consistent performances going out can obliterate the “Overrated” chants, for a less than stellar 17-of-31 for 162 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions day, bringing his last three games since their bye week INT total to five. In the Orange is the New Black Bowl, Cleveland's quick 13-0 lead following the first period was devoured by the Cincy defense the rest of the game. Which makes total sense when your defense manages to sack the opposing QB four times, hit him nine times, pick him off three times and score a defensive TD, along with scoring 31 unanswered points in the first half. Yep, you’re gonna have a good day with that performance.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but when I accidently grab a strand or two of my hair in my brush in the morning, it hurts like a (you know what). I can’t even imagine losing a handful to a defensive lineman. Apparently, Jason Babin of the Jags understands completely that hair is considered a part of the uniform in the NFL, so pull away he did on the dreadlocks of Andre Ellington who claimed he “didn’t really feel it – must have been the adrenalin.” WHAT??? Carson Palmer (Why, oh why do I STILL picture him in a Cincy helmet whenever I see his name?) managed to throw for 419 yards to nine players – and here’s something new – all of them his own teammates while finally going INT-less. Jags got the hair; Cards got the win. Hold on folks, TAMPA BAY WON AGAIN!!! WOO HOO!!! (Honestly, they’d better knock it off now though, if they want a shot at Clowney). Not only did they win, but they won big over Atlanta with a 41-28 clubbing. The Falcons have lost four straight as Tony Gonzalez seems to be the last Falcon to care. Which is both sad and frightening, seeing they get New Orleans next.

Woulda thunk the powerful Houston Texans would be on an eight game losing streak, not to mention, losing number eight to a rookie QB making his first start. Oh, and he’s an undrafted free agent to boot. Matt McGloin spoiled Gary Kubiak’s return as head coach while Houston went all passive-aggressive with their QB’s, forcing the game into a goal line stance that Oakland won. Lemme repeat that – Oakland won. The Nick Foles led Eagles Comeback Tour continues, with the rookie having a soft day with only 1 TD, yet finally snapping their 10-game home losing streak and taking over first place in the NFC East with yet another almost into OT finish. Believe it or not, the Eagles hadn’t won at home in 413 days. A moment of silence, please, for their season ticket holders, one of which is one of my Y coaches. Yep, she and her hubs travel to a couple of games a year, refusing to give up their seats. They may now have a reason to hang onto them.

Hands down, the Steelers have the ugliest throw-up, err…I mean throw-back uniforms in the league. Now that we’ve settled that dispute, here’s to Big Ben for having the kind of day that we all used to enjoy, going 29-45 for 367 yards and two TD’s, two of them in the final five minutes of the game. Exactly what did they put in his chocolate milk at halftime? Whatever the “supplement” was, it worked, putting the stop to a threatened big show courtesy of Stafford and Megatron. Can’t think of a team who needed a win more than Miami to stave off missing the playoffs and taking a little of the heat of the press off their backs while the bullying investigation continues. It was a close one nonetheless, requiring a bust-up of Philip Rivers’ final pass into the end zone to seal the win. The Chargers self-inflicted this loss, posting 10 laundry calls for a loss of 76 yards, two of which cost them 11 points in the first half. Betting they’d like those mistakes back. Then again, I have completely stopped betting on the Chargers. Oh, wait. I took them, didn’t I? ARGH…

Aaron Rodgers made an appearance on a local Packer TV show on Monday night and mentioned that he’s hoping he’ll be back within two weeks (my guess is Turkey Day) to rescue the Pack from implosion. Not a moment too soon, as the once 0-6 Giants now have the scent of the playoffs possibly within reach. making his first NFL start, Packers practice squad QB Scott Tolzien did all he could with a defense that let him down. Well, that and his three interceptions, one a momentum killing dagger , a.k.a. the dreaded pick six. Still, he managed to have some nice long tosses downfield, ending the day 24 of 34 for 339 yards. Should be interesting to see if McCarthy sticks with Tolzien or hands the ball off to Matt Flynn for their game Sunday against the Vikings. Speaking of the injured being returned and the Vikings, Percy Harvin finally got the Pete Carroll go-ahead to come back from hip surgery against his former team and he chose to do it in style, nailing a gnarly one-handed third-down conversion for 17 yards and then returning a kickoff 58 yards to set up a late second quarter Russell Wilson TD in assist of the win. Ain’t nothing like smoking your former team.

After their explosive 49 point, 625 yard romp of the Cowboys last week, the Saints decided to let their kicker do all the work and barely made it past the 49’ers, thanks to a questionable (Gee, I don’t know, though Brees did draw blood after all) roughing the passer penalty in their win. Or, perhaps they’re pre-resting up for their game on Thursday? Either way, Colin Kaepernick wasn’t exactly setting things on fire either, finishing with just 127 yards while being sacked three times. Well make that four, if you count Anquan Boldin’s little chat with Kaep about keeping his nose and mind off Twitter. Not quite the game any of us expected, that’s for sure. The big match-up of the week came by way of Kansas City losing their first game of the season. Not a rout by any means – more like a statement of “We got this one – see you in two weeks”. Denver’s offense was no match for the Chiefs (until now) highly touted defense, who managed to not touch Peyton at all. Gotta give my man Montee Ball some props – after a fumble that was really not his fault (and later charged to Manning), he came back strong, scoring two TD’s and giving Knowshon Moreno fantasy players conniptions. Big 10 balling, baby. Get over it. Good thing Montee got his act together before Peyton starts making him carry around one of those fake babies 24/7. Sorry, booger bear – you get another kick at the can in the rubber match.

OMG - how did one of my baby pictures get in here?

And finally, the New England – Carolina recap, stolen from lingerdog’s FB page: Cam goes 19/28 for 209 yrds 3 td's one being a fourth quarter game winning drive, finishes with a better qbr than Brady on the night, all the while leading not only his team in rushing yards but is the leading rusher on the night. But haters still gonna hate. Boom.

A Manning wins on Sunday night and a Manning wins the pool this week, with Manningup26 scoring a near-perfect 13/15 correct picks. Ho-le-cow, Mann!

WOO HOO, CONGRATS Manningup26!!!

Two pickers had 12/15 correct, MissesJai in second with her more accurate tie-breaker over lingerdog who took third, while three folks had 11/15 correct for places fourth through sixth to include sacred&stronger, JustmeVA and tesla. Yme grabs seventh with 10/15, while kernel and purplejacket4 had 9/15 correct for eighth and ninth respectively, while last week’s winner, Chico, rounds out the top ten with 8 correct.

Overall standings did a Jets win-loss flop. Stay with me…this is crazy: Misses Jai and Yme swapped out first and second place with 103 and 102 respectively. For third and fourth place, tesla (102) and purplejacket4 (100) swapped standings from last week. Then lingerdog (100) and kernel (99)swapped spots, with lingerdog now in fifth and kernel in sixth. Still with me? That leaves ray-ray (92) Yours Truly (90) and scared&stronger (88) – who didn’t swap places – to remain in the eighth through the top ten slots. Geez. Someone get me a beer.

We’re back to a 14 game week as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday. A TINY REMINDER – Picks for games on Thanksgiving Day will be due a day earlier, so start prognosticating now. Details to follow in next week’s recap.

ETA: ANOTHER REMINDER - please double check your picks after you post them and should there be any corrections necessary, make sure you update your thread (not just PM me).

'k? Thanks so much!

Wow...the Packers are favored (albeit slightly)...all that Rodgers raring to return chatter must be helping.
