Why??

Was wondering if anyone has tried this? I've been on a break from online dating and a friend has been using this to meet potential dates. I don't think she's met anyone yet in person but she showed it to me.

I worry this break from online dating may be permanent as nothing long term ever materialized and I got sick of the whole thing

Holidays are great for reminding you that you are single...still...sigh.

All I know is what my 21 year old son told me and showed me on his phone.

which is: I think you sign up and have a small bio and some photos. when you log in, you get shown photos of (insert gender) from your area (not sure how big an area that is). and all you do is say yes or no to those photos. when you say yes to one, it either says they like you too, or nothing - which means that either they have seen your photo and said no to it or they havn't seen your photo yet.

I thought it was a young person thing? He (my son) has been chatting to a very attractive girl who lives in his city but they have not met up yet. It struck me as a "simpler" way to do the OLD thing.

I probably got a few details wrong knowing me lol. maybe a "young" person will come and expand on this

PS: we live in New Zealand, so if Tinder is here, its everywhere

Me = FBS
Him = gone

things that happen in my life do not define who I am. I get to choose to be the best I can be, for me. cause I'm worth it.

I agree with you that it sounds much easier than standard online dating. I'll look into it some more while I get my nerve up

I didn't meet my Bear til I totally gave up on OLD and just lived my live to suit ME for about a year.

OLD was kind of fun - in a way - but it took up way too much of my time and I finally just gave up and decided to be ME, single, and live. Only then did a decent man appear in my life.

This was my experience. Loads of people have met someone great online. I met, and dated, some guys that are still my friends, but they weren't suited to mesh with MY life.

So....I'm not really a fan of OLD, but it does seem to work for some people. Luck of the draw!

ETA: I met the Bear shooting pool in pool tournaments at a biker bar. We competed against each other for months before he asked me out. It took a few more months before I agreed to go out with him. You never know when, or where, a good man will appear. I certainly didn't!

Sometimes the hardest part of finally seeing through someone is accepting what you see...

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to
change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me.

Everybody I know who uses it, uses it exclusively for hooking up, not as an actual dating site.
