So latest news is that he's moving out of his parents' house and into a flat in Jan. Last month he moved stuff he wanted out of our house and into the garage. He took some bookcases, an antique desk, lounge table, desk chairs and the bedroom furniture. This includes our marriage bed.

Literally, the almost 15 year old bed we bought when we got married. OK, a sturdy bed, I can see that. But why also take the almost 15 year old mattress too? I mean, TMI, but my waters broke on it. I laboured on it. Children have pee'd and been sick on it. The springs are pretty much gone. Why would he want it?

[To give some more context: He's on a high wage, I'm existing on government handouts and CS. Yet I've managed to save up, clear my half of the (unknown to me)overdraft debt and get taken off the joint a/c, and buy new bedroom furniture (thank you Ikea)and was gifted a kingsize bed and memory foam mattress by my sister.]

He's setting himself up so he doesn't have to buy anything. Whether it's because he's cheap or sentimental or greedy (or something else entirely?), couldn't tell you.

How nice of your sister to help you out with a new bed.

Yeah, it was amazing to be gifted it. It's a beautiful bed. But our old bed? Pine, rickety, 1 broken slat, uncomfy and just a double.

^^What NIK said. I think sometimes they take it just so we can't have it.

There was a bunch of stuff in a large shed at the old house. Fishing rods, games, sports gear, tents, that kind of thing. Most of it old/crappy and unused for almost 5years. I didn't want any of it and expected most would be thrown out.

He took the lot. We both moved into apartments - he hired storage to keep it.

My girlfriends and I laugh a joke that maybe he has it set up as some kind of morbid shrine.

Woody- The word I'm searching for, I can't say, because there are Pre-school toys here.
