Well it's 21 months out from d-day.Just spent the evening organising a get-together of several good friends at our place for next Sunday. We've been out separately and together loads of times since d-day, but apart from family gatherings it's the first time I've felt I've had the emotional energy to ask a bunch of people over, and it feels great! I used to do it a lot, but knowledge of fWH's LTA took so much out of me,I hadn't realised it until I thought to how many people I owe a return meal!
Another little triumph for me - H has been promoted to the boss of a small company. When Christmas dinner for the workers was being discussed, I insisted that the wives all be invited (it's all male workers there)- I pointed out that for a man to be employed and expected to turn up each day, sometimes work abroad for short periods, somebody - usually the wife - has to be available to do all the childcare, especially if the kids are ill. Sorry, this isn't meant to be a feminist rant, it applies both ways - in fact fOW was the principle wage-earner, and expected her H to take care of all domestic arrangements.
I just felt that once a year it would be nice to show a little appreciation for the SAH parent who enables the paid worker to have freedom to do whatever the company requires. And to try and put a stop to this ideas that work and home life are separate entities and never the twain shall meet.
As it happens, only one other wife turned up, but we got on like a house on fire, and everyone had a great evening.
