Who else on SI is sitting at your computer while the weather outside is frightful?

...just hope the power doesn't go out .....

...staying inside where it's safe...

...will post some pics tomorrow, barring a blackout.....share yours, too!

40 miles north of Chicago here...we've had a cold, drizzly rain since yesterday afternoon-ish...it's hovered around feezing, but the streets and sidewalks (and anywhere else my just-turned-30 ass might slip and die) have turned into giant sheets of ice.

Yes, Booger Bear, I hate winter, too!!!

It's pretty bad here in southeastern Ontario....just starting now to pelt down...supposed to last well into tomorrow.

On a positive note....

only 59 days to go until our annual trip to Negril!

...and there had better be NO flight delays!

Yea. What the hell??!!??

I was expecting a bunch of snow tonight (per the weather people), and I'm getting icy rain right now instead. It needs to knock it off -- I've got plans for tomorrow. stupid weather *grumble*

Not here; it's unseasonably warm with lots of rain. It's melting the snow and creating dense fog.

Freezing mist last night through today. Tonight we're expecting 7-8 inches of snow. Tomorrow - blowing snow and dangerous wind chills.

Yay, winter. Not.

I'm sitting here listening to some wicked wind, but our temps are embarrassingly high compared to what y'all are talking about (69 degrees right now).

Everything is covered in ice here. I went to the grocery store today, slip sliding my way to just walk to the car. Got the shopping done, couldn't open my hatchback to put them in as there was quarter of an inch of ice covering it. Took me a while. Then stopped for gas. Had to chisel the gas flap/cover open. Gah.

Earlier this evening we got rain on top of it, just to ice everything up good again, then the rain turned to ice pellets, now it's kind of icy snow. It's going to be wonderful in the morning.

It's 72 and windy. I'm glad that the ice is melting, but the warmness is weird for this time of year. It's supposed to be 30 on Christmas. That is a heck of a temperature drop.

Everything's covered in 1/2 inch of ice here. There are power outages to the east and west of us so I am getting together candles and extra duvets, just in case. My S/O's sister has a squished car from where a huge tree and a power line fell on it. Luckily no one was in the vehicle.

Jrc, shut up!

We live two hours east of Toronto.

We here in the country have power!

...at least for now...thawing a turkey breast for dinner...if power goes out, I guess the barbeque will come in handy!

It's freezing rain here still, everything is covered in thick ice.

H is outside trying to chop up some of it.

Both sons, one in Toronto, the other in a small city north of TO (Markham), don't have electricity. 250,000 people in the GTA are without power; 300,000 in the province of Ontario; even the streetcars in TO aren't running due to the heavy ice on the lines.

I took a pic of H a few minutes ago...

I'm sitting inside munching on cinnamon toast!

The bad ice missed us by 30 miles north. We have a thin coating In the trees, otherwise just wet.

It was beautiful when the sun peeked through the clouds for a minute today. Looked like the woods were bejeweled. Now it's just gray and cold.

I preferred the weather on Friday when it was 71 and sunny. But when the front came through the temp dropped 15 degrees in 30 minutes.

I hate winter!!!

Good news is the days get longer from this point forward!!!

No ice, but lots and lots of snow! About a foot (or more in some places) of it in the driveway. Luckily the landlord removes the snow for us, so I didn't have to shovel it all myself!

We got the ice. Some lost power, but we didn't. The trees were beautiful! The cars were iced shut and the roads were slick. All in all it was a *much ado about nothing* kind of thing compared to what we have had in the past - read ice storm that left the entire area without power for 10 days in 1991.

The freezing rain missed us....just got loads and loads of rain....

Thank goodness, I had to get up and go to work this morning and did not relish the thoughts of chiselling out the van to drive to work on slippery roads...

It has washed away most of the snow, now just the big piles from previous plowing are around...they are "ice piles" now....

It's been warm and rainy here for the past few days. It seems like the rain has stopped and not the front has moved through the temperatures are starting to plummet. 60 this morning. 50 now and around 30 by tomorrow morning. Hopefully the roads don't freeze.
