QS and I could do St. Louis area better than way up yonder in the sticks. Where? Iowa?

But...more in the Spring/Summer. It's just too dang cold to leave the house right now!

There are no rules against say attending 2 or even 3 g2gs in a single weekend.

Oh I'm sorry NIK.

When I think of those states up north, I picture lots and lots of woods, miles and miles of road that seem to never end, a town every couple hundred miles....scares this city girl to death. I live where there's a Starbucks on every corner.

Went to the UP for my grandmother's funeral and I swear that the stretch of road between Iron Mountain and Ishpeming is eterrrrrnalllllll.

QS took me to Wisconsin when we first got married...I begged for civilization.

Well, I was thinking of May.....at least if I was planning one here. I can take on the full planning if y'all decide this area is doable. I suppose we should let this simmer a bit, see who pops in, and where the consensus might be for location.

I'm going to Vegas in April to celebrate my birthday with my HS sweetheart....could be fun, hilarious, or weird...we'll see. And, I've volunteered to serve on my town's 4th of July Riverfest planning committee...a three day festival held when it's usually 110 degrees out. Ouch. So June and July will be hectic for me.

ILINIA...dancing?? Yes!!!!! I know Moo and I are pretty passionate about dancing, and are hoping to force our hobby on others! Well, I am, at least! Just So. Much. Fun.

I'm happy so many people are interested!

Uh-oh. If there's dancing, as in foxtrot and swing and the like, we'd like to make it, but we're reserving the weekend of 5/18 for something already. Of course, St Louis gets too hot about that time anyway....

In the Chicago area, there are venues for dancing that seem to be pretty decent for a g2g event - live music, but not too loud, wide open spaces with tables - good for conversation and for dancing. Would that turn people off?

Aubrie,

Then don't ever drive across western KS. It's a good 6 hour sensory deprivation drive that even has country folk hallucinating.

OTOH, NIK, for a guy who was brought up where the major crop is rocks, it was really exciting to drive through miles of corn and soy the first time. The first 4.5 hours were absolutely great. (Well, yeah, the trip took 6...not so great. )

I read about 'black earth' as a kid. On my first trip from St. Lou to Chicago to see W2B after a month apart, oh so desperate to see her, I started out totally focused on getting to her ASAP. Even so, I saw the black earth after harvest for the first time in my life, and I had to stop, get out, and really take it in.

When I arrived, I told W2B about the reason the trip took longer than I expected. It just dawned on me - was that why the weekend didn't go as I had hoped? Because I placed a higher priority on dirt than on her???? Hmmm...no. That wasn't it at all, come to think of it....

FWIW....my vote is for a Chicago-ish-land venue....

I would definitely like to go, if it isn't too far from St. Louis.

I'm in Ohio so I can drive to Indiana or Illinois. Missouri is getting a bit too far.

I think Chicago would work out best for the group. I'm down for Chicago with enough notice.

I'd consider Chicago. Indiana would be best. Farther west is too much for me.
