After whining about his sitch for a few days, I think he might be coming around a little. He contacted the utilities about putting the bills for his house in his name. I cancelled all our credit cards and he didn't get mad.

The only thing he has done that makes me uncomfortable is that he had contacted a lender about refinancing my house in my name only but he would somehow still be legally accountable. Something tells me there is a catch here like maybe I would have to allow him access to the property or require his signature for any rennovations, I'll have to have my attorney look that one over.

Also, he has not mentioned that he has retained an attorney. My lawyer said she would contact him this week to tell him we need either an agreement or a rebuttal by Feb 1 or we will start a divorce action.

I don't know if they will let him refinance in your name only. He can contact anyone he likes, but you would have to sign the papers if it's in your name. I would definately speak with my attorney on this one.

Glad things are moving forward for you SusanR. Let your lawyer guide you and you will be fine.
