About ten inches of snow today. A drop in the bucket, but at least we got the drop!

Raining all weekend. People had wells run dry and were stealing water from the community center and the fire department. So I hope the rain puts an end to that!

Rain is beautiful music. Now I pray that there are no mud slides in vulnerable areas.

California, gotta love it. Dry - then fires, wet - then mudslides, and always the possibility that everything will disappear in an earthquake.

We've been on flood alert all day.

The creek immediately adjacent to our house is about 75% full.

I'm going to do my part and take a niiiiice loooooong bath.

The lack of rain has been freaking me out. My job is dependent on ag and if our growers have no water...

We've finally had some rain but not nearly enough...

Bucket in kitchen sink to catch any gray water - washing fruit or veggies.

2 buckets in shower - 3 gallons waiting for water to warm up.

Shower 2-3x a week only.

No watering the lawn.

Never use the hose to clean the driveway - use a broom.

Don't flush for every pee.

Do more rain dances.

I hear frogs for the first time since last year.

I sat outside in the wood shed listening to the rain on the metal roof and watching the trees bend in the wind and the fog swirling. It's been a really good steady rain all yesterday and today so far.

wildbananas i know many farm / ranch operations are in dire straights. I hope this eases some pain. Fingers crossed we get more.

Just browsed through this thread, and didn't see anything about catching the gray water from showering. I have a dear friend that her mom was a total hippie, and she was green before it was cool. She always made us all turn the water off while soaping, and she only allowed showers in the tub shower, and would plug the tub, and get the 5 gallon buckets out to save that gray water, she would then use it to flush toilets, water plants, and even do some hand washing of delicates.
She also had the bricks in the toilet, she just put hers in a ziplock baggie so they didn't wash debris down the drain.

Anyone else scared?

Iím a so cal native. Iím not scared for me but I am for others. I worry more for the farmers, crops and livestock than I do for us drinking. If we donít get snow in the Sierras and rain in the San Joaquin thereís going to be some serious economic problems. Not just the cost of food but soaring unemployment and even more ďmom & popĒ farmers out of business. Water conservation is all we can do to help but I fear itís too late given the news of the planned state and federal water allocations.
I worry more about wildfire than I do about running out of tap water. I am conserving water but itís not going to increase the water content of the brush. If we donít get rain in so cal the wildfires will be scary. Most of the so cal wildfires that have done so much damage have been caused by human activity and not lightning strikes. Itís really quite sad.
