800 miles away. Can't do anything. Appendix might have burst. He said he's in awful pain.

We can't do anything to help.

We want to be there with him, DIL, and GS.

We want him to be healthy.

Seeking thoughts, mojo, prayers, if you've got some to spare. TIA.

Sending good thoughts for a full and speedy recovery. It must be so hard when you are so very far away. I'm sure he will be in good hands and praying you receive hour by hour updates until you can rest a little more easily.

My appendix burst when I was 21 and living in Vienna Austria (think I spoke some bad German at best, family on another continent, my home country insurance that wasn't really set up to deal with out of country care) and as they were wheeling me into the ER the nurse was asking me questions that seemed necessary but that I couldn't answer (eg how much did I weigh, I had no clue!).

Anywho, I now have a big Eastern European scar on my abdomen because they rally had to get in there to get as much of the "poison" out they could. I spent a week in the hospital there & then returned home and spent another week in the hospital because everything got infected inside me. Luckily antibiotics cleared it & no second surgery.

My point is, even if it burst since he's got good medical care he'll be fine. Not a pleasant experience though, I'll give you that. I'm sorry you can't be there at the hospital.

Thanks A LOT for you help and thoughts, hugs, prayers.

Per DIL: Laparascopic appendectomy, burst appendix (that's what it was called when I was a kid), all news and indications are good. Doctors confident they got everything out.

Of course, we're still worried, have images of infection ... but it sounds good.

It was done at New York Presbyterian, some of the best med students in the country....

Our hopes and expectations are high.

Sending any medical mojo he needs
