For the life of me, I can't remember. I'm not about to ask wh and/or look it up!

I'm sure it was stupid and sappy.

It's your love - Tim McGraw/Faith Hill
Dancin' in the dark
Middle of the night
Takin' your heart
And holdin' it tight

Emotional touch
Touchin' my skin
And askin' you to do
What you've been doin' all over again

Oh, it's a beautiful thing
Don't think I can keep it all in
I just gotta let you know
What it is that won't let me go

It's your love
It just does somethin' to me
It sends a shock right through me
I can't get enough
And if you wonder
About the spell I'm under
It's your love

Better than I was
More than I am
And all of this happened
By takin' your hand

And who I am now
Is who I wanted to be
And now that we're together
I'm stronger than ever
I'm happy and free

Oh, it's a beautiful thing
Don't think I can keep it all in, no
And if you asked me why I changed
All I gotta do is say your sweet name

It's your love
It just does somethin' to me
It sends a shock right through me
I can't get enough
And if you wonder
About the spell I'm under
It's your love
Oh, baby

Oh, it's a beautiful thing
Don't think I can keep it all in
I just gotta let you know
What it is that won't let me go

It's your love
It just does somethin' to me
It sends a shock right through me
I can't get enough
And if you wonder
About the spell I'm under
It's your love
It's your love
It's your love

Just You and I - Eddie Rabbit and Crystal Gayle. WH suggested it.

Just you and I,Sharing our love together.
And I know in time,We'll build the dreams we treasure.
We'll be all right, just you and I.

Just you and I
Just you and I
Sharing our love together
And I know in time,
And I know in time,
We'll build the dreams we treasure.
And we'll be all right,
Just you and I.

CHORUS:
And I remember our first embrace,
That smile that was on your face,
The promises that we made.
And now your love is my reward,
And I love you even more,
Than I ever did before.

Just you and I
Just you and I
We can entrust each other,
With you in my life,
With you in my life,There'll never be another. We'll be all right,
Just you and I.

Chorus

We made it you and I.

Love Can Build A Bridge-- The Judds

I'd gladly walk across a desert with no shoes upon my feet
To share with you the last bite of bread I had to eat.
I would swim out to save you in your sea of broken dreams.
When all your hopes are fading,
Let me show you what love means.

Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time?
Don't you think it's time?

I would whisper love so loudly
Every heart could understand
That love and only love
Can join the tribes of man
I would give my heart's desire so that you might see
The first step is to realize it all begins with you and me

Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time?
Don't you think it's time?

When we stand together, it's our finest hour
We can do anything
Anything
Keep believing in the power

Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time?
Don't you think it's time?

I sang it to him at the reception. Couldn't listen to it for a while, but I think it's true for use now, definitely.

Time in a bottle by Jim Croche

If I could save time in a bottle
The first this g that i'd like to do
Is to save everyday 'till eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

But there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do, once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

There are more lyrics, but you get the idea.

Love ... dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings. -Anais Nin

From this Moment ~ Shania Twain

(I do swear that I'll always be there.
I'd give anything and everything and I will always care.
Through weakness and strength, happiness and sorrow,
for better for worse, I will love you with
every beat of my heart.)
From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love I'd give my last breath
From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment on

You're the reason I believe in love
And you're the answer to my prayers from up above
All we need is just the two of us
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment
I will love you as long as I live
From this moment on

When I was thinking about creating this thread, I was debating with myself whether to put it in the Reconciliation forum or General. I'm glad I picked Reconciliation. It would have made for a cathartic vent thread in general, but for me it belongs here.

What I want for my fellow SI folks is that the marriage that emerges from the rubble is more reflective of the sentiments expressed in these songs we chose years ago.

I know I did "take the good times and the bad times". I'm glad of that and happy for the marriage I have now.

Here's hoping many of you reach a point where the words reflect a new reality in your M as opposed to being an ironic trigger. At least in part, that is why we're posting in this forum.

hugs to all of you

Perfect Day-Lou Reed

Just a perfect day
drink Sangria in the park
And then later
when it gets dark, we go home

Just a perfect day
feed animals in the zoo
Then later
a movie, too, and then home

Oh, it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spend it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on

Just a perfect day
problems all left alone
Weekenders on our own
it's such fun

Just a perfect day
you made me forget myself
I thought I was
someone else, someone good

Oh, it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on

You're going to reap just what you sow
You're going to reap just what you sow
You're going to reap just what you sow
You're going to reap just what you sow

Kinda foreboding now that I think about it. Spooky.

Interesting thread Warp. A jog down memory lane with all the different songs. We eloped. We didn't want to put a lot of focus on just one day but instead on the relationship as a whole. Yeah, look how well that worked out So, no wedding song. But my husband used to sing this song to me all the time.

The first verse is ironic. The rest is eerily accurate.

"Oh! Darling"

Oh! Darling, please believe me
I'll never do you no harm
Believe me when I tell you
I'll never do you no harm

Oh! Darling, if you leave me
I'll never make it alone
Believe me when I thank you, ooo
Don't ever leave me alone

When you told me
You didn't need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and cried
When you told me
You didn't need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and died

Oh! Darling, if you leave me
I'll never make it alone
Believe me when I tell you
I'll never do you no harm
Believe me darling

When you told me
You didn't need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and cried
When you told me
You didn't need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and died

Oh! Darling, please believe me
I'll never let you down
Oh, believe me darling
Believe me when I tell you, ooo
I'll never do you no harm

Growing forward

Tupelo Honey, VanMorrison

You can take all the tea in china
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail right around the seven oceans
Drop it straight into the deep blue sea
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Shes an angel of the first degree
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You cant stop us on the road to freedom
You cant keep us cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor bent on chivalry
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Shes an angel of the first degree
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You cant stop us on the road to freedom
You cant stop us cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor intent on chivalry
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Shes an angel of the first degree
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You know shes alright
You know shes alright with me
Shes alright, shes alright (shes an angel)

You can take all the tea in china
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail it right around the seven oceans
Drop it smack dab in the middle of the deep blue sea
Because shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Shes an angel of the first degree
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Shes an angel of the first degree
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like the honey, baby, from the bee
Shes my baby, you know shes alright.....

Theres a rose pressed inside a bible
That she reads on the balcony
Shes sweet in slumber and Ive got her number
For the beginning of the century.

Ill tell a tale of old manhattan
Adirondack bus to go
Standing waiting on my number
And my numbers gonna show.

I heard a tale of old manhattan
Ive never been there but I want to go
Standing waiting on my number
And my numbers gonna show.

BH picked it. It breaks my heart to hear it now. Turns out I wasn't sweet at all.

Ours was Frank Sinatra "The Way You Look Tonight."

But recently my husband told me that there is a Mark Knopfler / Emmylou Harris song that has always made him think of me and us, and I had never heard it before. It's "This is Us," and if we were ever to have a song together, maybe I'd pick this one now.

This is us down at the Mardi Gras
This is us In your Daddy's Car
You and the missing link
Yeah, I'd had a little too much to drink, now
Too long in the sun
Having too much fun
You and me and our memories
This is us

Rocking at the barbecue
Yeah, when we said I do
Hand jiving on the Ballroom floor
You in that wedding coat you wore
And you in that amazing dress
I was stoned on love I guess
You and me we were meant to be
This is us

This is us on our Honeymoon
In our hotel room
Sitting by the wishing well
Checking out of the love motel
Making plans for the sunshine state
Waiting at the terminal gate
You and me making history
This is us

And our baby boy
With our pride and joy
You at the Sunday Game
Standing next to What's hisname?
On our Anniversary
With the family
You and me and our memories
This is us

I Will Be Here - Steven Curtis Chapman

Tomorrow mornin'
If you wake up
And the sun
Does not appear
I, I will be here

If in the dark
We lose sight of love
Hold my hand
And have no fear
'Cause I, I will be here

I will be here
When you feel like bein' quiet
When you need
To speak your mind
I will listen

And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin'
Through the winnin', losin' and tryin'
We'll be together, 'cause I will be here

Tomorrow mornin'
If you wake up
And the future
Is unclear
I, I will be here

As sure as seasons
Are made for change
Our lifetimes
Are made for years
So I, I will be here

I will be here
So you can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror
Tells us we're older
I will hold you

And I will be here
To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things
You are to me, I will be here

I will be true
To the promise I have made
To you and to the one
Who gave y
ou to me
I, I will be here

And just as sure as seasons
Are made for change
Our lifetimes are made for years
So I, I will be here
We'll be together, I will be here

I highlighted the especially painful portion. I really, truly thought we both meant it.

And I sang Our Love is Here to Stay to him at the reception. I guess I just mistakenly assumed the "our" part.

This has been a great thread... Lots of memories. I hear my wedding song often. If I am in an office setting (happens a lot) I have to keep my poker face on, but I have been in the car when it's played and a tear (or two) find their way down my cheek. I guess it's one of those tragedy of infidelity!

Here it goes.

"Take My Breath Away" by Berlin

Watching every motion
In my foolish lover's game
On this endless ocean
Finally lovers know no shame

Turning and returning
To some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion
As you turn around and say

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Watching I keep waiting
Still anticipating love
Never hesitating
To become the fated ones
Turning and returning

To some secret place to find
Watching in slow motion
As you turn to me and say
My love

Take my breath away

Through the hourglass I saw you
In time you slipped away
When the mirror crashed I called you
And turned to hear you say
If only for today
I am unafraid

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Watching every motion
In this foolish lover's game
Haunted by the notion
Somewhere there's a love in flames

Turning and returning
To some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion
As you turn my way and say

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

t/j
We didn't have one. My parents were working class, his parents were business owners (My Dad was employed by his Dad.) I wore his Mother's wedding dress (which was beautiful and romantic and fit me to the T, oh, her shoes too...all 'borrowed' which I returned to her, yikes with a big rip when SIL stepped on the train.) We could only afford a champagne reception in the church. FWH ignored me the whole time... the best man had to unbutton the back of the wedding dress (in the motorhome, I know, right?)...nothing weird there, he just knew I was being slighted on such an important day...sighs... So I could change into a dress to leave in. Then they threw birdseed which got in my eyes as we left the church. The day was fucked!

end of t/j sorry.

Wow no music allowed. I married him while he was in jail then drank champagne in the parking lot. While he was inside he would send me songs and I would send him songs and that list is what I started our CD collection with. So now I have over 300 CDs that have one of our songs on it. it has taken me much time to be able to listen to any music.
