I've been trying to find out more about this. What is a reputable site to go to?

Unfortunately, there are many variations of "Paleo".

You have to find your own path, depending on what you want from it and what you mean by it.

Mark Sisson and Robb Wolf are two starting points. But there are many others.

Take care of yourself. There's a great future out there. It won't come to you; you have to go to it.

Hi, simply devastated and idkam!

I eat "paleo", and have for the past year and a half. I started because I was tired of feeling exhausted and "foggy headed" all the time, but particularly after eating. I also had a lot of skin issues (psoriasis and eczema) that seemed related to binging on grains (like, say, pizza night with my family).

I lost 40 lbs pretty quickly, and have a ton of energy. My eczema is gone, psoriasis a little better. I sleep better, I wake up well rested, etc. I also find I don't get headaches anymore.

For me, paleo is not just a form of eating, I try to do everything more naturally. Going to bed earlier, getting 8-10 hours of sleep a night, etc.

If I may, I suggest kicking off your paleo journey with the WHole30. It's similar to the paleo diet, but even more restrictive. By thte time you've down your 30 days, paleo seems like a piece of cake. I just did my first Whole30, and felt so great I'm continuing.

Here is a website if you're interested:

http://whole30.com

You can do it!

(Feel free to pm for questions/encouragement).

Gaby, that book didn't come up free for me. But it is in the Kindle lending library, so if you have Amazon Prime you can read it free.

Thank you everyone! This is great information. I've been doing a lot of stress eating lately and I need to correct that.

I eat this way naturally, pretty much all the time. I really like protein. I bought half a cow this winter and that has worked out well.
It's a little difficult as hubby has a hard time keeping weight on but it's made a world of difference in my skin and digestive issues that have plagued me since birth.

They key for me is finding snack food you REALLY like - nuts, beef jerky, etc.

Oy, I hear THAT. I was just reading the Whole30, and I'm like.... so veggies and egg whites and almonds? That's it?!?!

Then I looked down at my bowl of Lucky Charms and thought that MAYBE making an adjustment is a really good idea.

To be fair, paleolithic humans probably burned like ten thousand calories a day doing shit like stabbing mammoths and killing their own babies.

Man. How many calories does mammoth hunting burn, you think? Also, does anyone know where I could find an animatronic mammoth?

killing their own babies

I must have missed that part in my five years of Anthropology studies.

They would use them as ammo for mammoth hunting. Fact.

Hahaha, I'm pretty sure you can have the WHOLE egg.

No, it's protein with every meal, 6-8 cups of veggies per day, fruits here and there (minimal, you're trying to kill sugar cravings), nuts and seeds when you want them.

Really, I can't say enough about it. It's wonderful. I went from being "faileo" (fell of the wagon HARD during the holidays), to not having any inclination to eat the way I was. And I was eating pie for breakfast, people, PIE!

What's wrong with pie for breakfast? There's fruit in it. Fruit is good for you.
