My brothers just texted me a picture of them, drinking, in their Olympic sweaters and mittens, in the middle of the day on a Thursday, in my parents basement.
Pure class.

This explains why you kept stealing those mittens. So your brothers could keep warm in your parents' basement.

Excellent game. It sure didn't look like it was going to be that exciting.

Well played on both sides. Congrats to the Canadian team!

It's so hard to watch these girls get their silver medals. They are just crushed.

And the US gets to keep Justin. YAY! Double YAY!!! Great game.

Canadian Cassie Campbell was commenting for CBC TV and she said with hockey, teams would rather get bronze than lose the gold.

Ha ha, Kat.

Meta, we were all watching in my office--all 3 of us. I couldn't wear a jersey to work because I have to attend a fundraising gala tonight, LOL.

..chanced upon a beach bar in sunny Negril Jamaica, Alfred's Ocean Palace.. had the game on..

..caught the OT period... the pull down breakaway.. What? no penalty shot????

..then the powerplay 4 on 3.. and the winning goal..

Holy crap!!!!! what a comeback!!!

Couldn't help but feel bad for those USA gals... their faces showed the heartbreak as they accepted their silver medals..

..to be that close to the end..and miss the open net shot on the goalpost!!!!

..reminded me of the Leafs meltdown against Boston in the playoffs last year..

..can't help but love the Canadian girls for digging deep and having a ton of good luck on their side.. Now... can the mens' team take the USA squad tomorrow??

GO TEAM CANADA... bring home the Gold for the men as well!!!

No, Canada won. They get to keep the Biebs.....

DD8 plays travel ice hockey. After watching the men's shoot out against Russia and just all the Olympic hockey, I don't think my heart can take the competition. I don't know how the parents of those players could do it!

I know!! I was thinking that watching the mens moguls. I mean exactly when do you get used to your son or daughter careening down a mountain and flipping in the air? At what point do you stop yelling "GET DOWN FROM THERE RIGHT NOW!!!". If one of my kids ever made it that far in a sport I'd be banned from the events.

Oh no you don't. We're closing the borders.

I'm with ya, Meta, on the whole GET DOWN FROM THERE thing. I watch some of this stuff and think to myself "how did these people even know it was possible to do some of these things?" and how in the world do they work up the courage to even try it......and where were their mothers when the kids were flying through the air like that????
But I'm not much of a risk-taker, so.....an Olympics designed by me would be uber-boring.

DS#2 played soccer. Goalie on tournament games. I couldn't watch any plays in his zone. All I could do is pretty for his teeth.

Thankfully, their main sport was swimming. Soft, water, ah! Since DS#1 had ADD there was the added bonus that he couldn't daydream, he'd drown. Daydreaming was a problem in soccer, tee ball, etc.

Ds9 plays house league and travel basketball, dh coaches. The two of them have a "hilarious" comedy routine where they demonstrate what it would be like if I were the coach. It includes fabulous one liners in high pitched voices like, "Does anyone need a sweater?!" and "You all look frustrated, let's all have a hug!". They think they are hilarious.
