I had a meeting with the property manager yesterday and she consulted with her regional manager. They are letting me out of my lease with no penalties and reimbursing my security deposit and part of my pet fee, I'm satisfied in that aspect.
I had kept in contact with my boss all weekend due to the events with my daughter because she will be the one doing my job when I can't be there. I ended up going to work around lunch time yesterday and when I got there my boss gave me a nice chunk of money, most of it from the company and a separate personal check from her. This will help me get into a more desirable location. Our company policy does not allow employees to sell their vacation time in lieu of taking the time off but I had asked for an exception. They decided I needed to save my vacation so I can use it to deal with my daughter and moving, etc...
My XSO is going to store my stuff in his 16ft box trailer until I find a place to live. We know it will all fit because that's where most of it lived during the 6 weeks after we broke up in Nov until I was finally able to move out in Dec. This will make the 7th move in less than 5 yrs. He is also keeping my dogs until I find a place because I'm staying with my DD and my dogs do not do children (2 y/o grandson). I miss them horribly and would love to have my puppy cuddles, I just know they would make me feel so much better.
I am staying strong, as hard as it is, because I have no other options.
Thank you all for your continued prayers, positive energy, mojo, whatever you've been sending...it working to help keep me upright.

I think it's time for a positive update.
I've been staying with my daughter for the past 3 weeks and tomorrow I finally move into my own space again. I can't wait to sleep in my own bed, I haven't slept in it since Feb 14th because I was on vacation prior to the robbery.
I looked at several complexes and had police records sent for all of them. I also checked out apartment ratings and only looked at the ones that had a high recommendation rate from either prior or current tenants.
The location is great, further from work but closer to my daughter. I was able to get a first floor unit but my windows are all second floor because there is a terrace level apartment below me. This is great for me because with my RA my poor ankles and knees don't like the steps, especially first thing in the morning not to mention walking 2 dogs several times a day.
My building overlooks the fitness center, pool and leasing office so not much opportunity or privacy for potential burglars. The rent is a good deal more than my prior apartment but it's hard to put a price on peace of mind.
I'll be living without cable to save some money but I'll have internet. My insurance company had a replacement TV delivered today. I was able to combine the value of my old 32" flat screen and my point and shoot camera to upgrade to a 42" smart TV which will make it so simple to use Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, etc... I probably won't even miss cable.

I had a moment of panic this evening when I took some things over to the apartment but I know all will be well. My dogs will be back with me tomorrow night in my new place and I will be soaking in the solitude even with the new moving mess around me.
I don't have to worry about DD for a few days because her husband will be home with her. I'll post an update about DD on my other thread.

Thanks for all your support, encouragement and MOJO, people of SI.

Oh yay! So glad to hear this! I know it will be a bit anxiety producing at first- but you will settle in and be back to your old self soon. The doggies will love being back with you too!

Finally have internet! Woohoo!
I have enjoyed the first 2 nights in my new place without any anxiety. It's so nice to have my dogs back and they are adjusting perfectly after a month away from me.
There's a dog in the apartment next to mine that barks constantly all day long, it's making my 2 look like angles. I would hate to think my dogs were causing such a nuisance all day when I wasn't home. Mine only bark when someone knocks on the door and when they hear me set my car alarm. The neighbors dog doesn't bother me though, as long as it doesn't set my 2 off we'll be fine.
I'm almost fully unpacked but it will take a while to get my pictures and artwork hung because I like to take my time deciding where everything will look best.
Today I get a $300 Amex gift card from the complex, a promo they are running this month for new move ins. I think I'll go shopping!
