Are you fucking kidding me?!

I just got a damn ticket b/c I didn't use my blinker when I merged from one lane to another on the highway!

I know I should have but I just moved and didn't pay attention. I think a warning would have been plenty!

But no this $%#@ had to give me a damn ticket! I can't afford $200 for a ticket! This sux!!!

(((EW)))

If it's a moving violation, see about taking a defensive driving course instead of having to pay the fine.

A client of ours has a Texas based defensive driving course that takes about 6 hours to get through.

Hang in there

I can't even imagine. The law where I live states that you only have to use your blinker if you are impeding traffic - which is nearly impossible to prove unless you cause an accident by not using your blinker. I'd definitely check on the defensive driving thing.

If the defensive driving courses in TX are the same as AZ, it won't be any cheaper than the cost of the ticket, but at least it won't show up on your MVR and affect your insurance premiums.

Also, in AZ you could only take the DD course once every two years, so if it's the same in TX, don't get another moving violation...

I think the laws in MO are very similar to what others have described, but I am not sure that this is a moving violation.....
So check that first, it may just be a pay the fine and done thing.

I do have to say that This is one of My biggest peeves with bad drivers, and although I am diligent about using my turn indicators, I am sure there are times, that I overlook it. It is rampant where we live, and often is not used to allow the driver to continue with the me first mentality. I can even tell you by car brand who the worst perpetrators are, because it gets under my skin so much. I am fairly convinced that most Fords do not come with functioning turn indicators. LOL. Anyway, I am sorry this happened to you, and wish that cop could make his way to my neck of the woods and start handing those out here, cause sister they would make a killing.

So you want an officer to chase you down and verbally scorn you over something you already knew was wrong in the first place?

You can set it for trial. Go in before the trial and speak to the prosecutor, not the judge. I have seen prosecutors whittle the fine down to literally a few dollars with probation as long as they get a no contest plea.

I don't understand people who don't use their blinkers. It's so ingrained in me, I even use it when I am turning into my driveway - on a dead-end street with 5 houses and very little traffic.

If they cruised the Katy freeway during rush hour, they'd need to have more ticket books printed.

Just sayin'

I want to thank everyone who send me hugs and supported me in this.

I have nothing much to say to the rest. -Sorry!

Just to clarify...I was on the phone w/ my mother...long distance...Germany to be exact. We were both in tears b/c my father recently passed. Yes, the officer saw me in tears, did not care. Maybe it's not his job to care but damn.

Wow - really?

You come here for input and those that don't agree with it not being a big deal get slapped?

Seriously?

I have been caught speeding. Was I guilty? Yes. Did I go to court to try and minimize the damage of my guilt? Yes. Did it work? Yes. Not from a financial perspective, but where it counted - in the points system.

I would presume you could do the same thing. Given that most municipalities around the country have had to manage with severe budget cuts, the chances of the fine going down are slim, but you may be able to save yourself on your insurance, and most let you pay over time - usually 3-6 months.

Had someone hit you because they didn't see you coming as you didn't give them notice you were changing lanes, you'd be paying a whole lot more. Also be glad you weren't nailed for being on your phone.

Consider this a good lesson learned and also think about being a bit kinder to folks here who try to help you...that is JMHO.

NO ONE ever uses them here. Keeps you from turning in front of me or someopne having to yield.

There's a guy who has no trailer lights on a loaded Riverside siding trailer(you can't see the lights on the truck)-he has had no lights on the trailer for well over a year.

Holy distracted driving, Batman!

I am sorry to hear about your dad's passing, but maybe if you were having such an emotional phone conversation you should have pulled over or into a parking lot or something while you were talking to your mom.

I've been rear-ended due to a driver being distracted, so I really have no patience for that type of stuff. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear. But I drive a lot and I don't like sharing the road with people who don't follow the rules because they tend to cause the most accidents.

Yah having worked trauma in my life I gotta say you are flipping lucky that's all that happened.
Crying, driving on a highway, on the phone, and not using turn indicator? Were ya smoking and drinking a beer too???

This is a recipe for a disaster where you would most likely be the cause of it. Just think about how bad it could have been.

This is a gentle wake up call from karma. Please take notice. Next time you talk with mom try pulling over.

I don't want to sound like a bitch but sister when you have seen what I have caused by a lot less. ....

I wonder if he pulled you over because he noticed you were on the phone and crying?

Some moving violation offenses are doubled if your caught using a cellphone at the time. At least in my neck of the woods.

I'm glad no one was hurt.

Really tushnurse?! That's your response to me talking about me being in tears b/c my father just died? Really?!

Wow! I am not posting anymore! This is truly rediculous!

MY FATHER DIED. MY MOM CALLED UNEXPECTED. I STARTED CRYING. I EXITED TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY SO I CAN TALK.

GIVE ME A BREAK HERE!

Again.

Thank you to the ones who cared.
