I'm finally able to post (I hope it lasts long enough). I've been having "technology issues" since I got home. For a short time, I had access by my phone, but then that started to reject me too! I can't do long posts or messages on it, but I think I have my computer back.
Thanks, everyone, for making it such a comfortable, friendly weekend for my first visit to Chicago proper. O'Hare many times, but never anywhere else.
Plainsong and Sisoon, thank you so much for the hospitality and organizing. You are so welcoming. Sisoon, you are so right that it made for a much nicer atmosphere to start the weekend off getting acquainted. And, I'm still going through withdrawal from that amazing pizza!! I wish I could have stuck around to help with leftovers!
Better4Me, it was lovely to meet the person who stole my name. You are a lovely person and I greatly enjoyed being in your company. Too bad we live so far apart. I think we could be great friends.
The same applies to NIK. You are the first person I ever saw on SI. I loved seeing your excited and triumphant look upon exiting the court after having your D granted. And the part that you made wasband take the photo a second time because you weren't satisfied with the first! Priceless!! I enjoyed visiting with you very much.
Jrazz, not knowing you, I had no idea Friday night what you had gone through on your way there. I'm sooo sorry!! I'm not sure I would have known anyway that something was *off*. You are so bubbly and friendly. Thank you for the great wine and for your generosity Sunday. I enjoyed that. And thanks for helping with the organizing. California 2015!! (Hopefully)
Gemini71, you are definitely a "Gem". I'm very glad you were there and sorry that you missed some of the fun. Next time!
Moo, I'm so glad SI's official G2G ambassador made it to Chicago and I got to meet you! I sincerely enjoyed talking with you and thank you for your generosity Saturday night. You are a real gentleman.
Aubs and QS, it was my pleasure to meet you. I'm sorry, too, that we didn't get to talk much, Aubrie, but I greatly enjoyed my talk with you, QS. You are a very nice young man and a very interesting person. Turned out we had quite a bit to talk about. You just never know until you do.
The same goes for Dixie D and hubs. Very interesting talking to you both. I'm sorry you missed the beginning of the weekend, but glad you extended and got to enjoy so much of Chicago. And that you were there for the little lost girl.
Mo3K and Do3K, I didn't get to talk with you much, (you're very quiet ) but it was nice to actually see you in person. BTW, you look even better in person than your photos!
Knight and Knightsbff, you are a lovely couple, full of information and interesting stories. Glad to make your acquaintance and glad you had such a wonderful visit to Chicago. I have to agree that Knight looks very relaxed in the photos!
Ascendant and Mrs. Ascendant, it was my pleasure to make your acquaintance and that of your beautiful and well-behaved son. I hope to see you again at another G2G. Thanks for your help in organizing.
And, Tesla! It was a pleasure once again and I can't thank you enough for the escort and chauffeur duties. Without that, I might not have had the courage to go. And I enjoyed our talks so much! You, as much as anyone or more than most, *get* the issues of the ex and the kids (even though mine aren't "kids". In fact, almost all who were at the G2G are younger than my "kids"!). I hope we are G2G "Roomies" again!
I hope I remembered everyone. It was a wonderful weekend and birthday. I can't think of enough superlatives to describe how great it was to meet you all. I enjoyed it so much (I'm still smiling). It also made me realize that I have to visit Chicago again! I hope there are more G2Gs there.
P.S. We got out of Chicago just in time! I'm glad everyone made it home safely with the weather.
