Thanks!

I knew I was well positioned to maybe do it, but I wasn't sure, obviously.. anyway, I actually feel kind of shocked. It's a good outcome, but I just feel kind of dazed right now.

It's very nice to see "outstanding" + promotion (the best possible outcome) on a performance review. It makes me feel better about my ability to do my job. Also, all this week I've finally "clicked" with the sleep issues and I've been feeling very productive. So this is all good stuff.

The best part is I don't even have to tell XWW, ha ha ha.

ETA: I don't mean legally speaking, I just mean the no contact thing. I can keep stuff to myself and she doesn't have to be part of it.

My career took off after I left XWW. And I also increased my income by over 30% during that time. Its a great feeling to be appreciated and recognized at work. When I look back on my career and marriage I have come to realize that my XWW was holding me back for many years. And she was always jealous that my career soared above hers. Naturally she blamed her failures on the M, being a female, and most of all me. I remember when I made VP and got a huge raise. We were still together then so I called to share the good news. She actually insulted me saying "They made you VP ?" I blew it off as a joke at that time but in retrospect she was jealous. But she had no problem spending the extra money that came along with it. After we S/D I made corporate VP and was asked by my then boss "Where the hell were you all these years" I told him I was always there but was held back by a vindictive and jealous W. We both got a laugh at that one as he knew my story. I have to say that the last promotion was my most satisfying as I could actually be happy for my accomplishments. I chucked it all 3 years later and decided to take an early retirement and don't regret a thing.

I'm glad for you my man. Good things start to happen when your worries are gone. I hope you continue down the road of success. And the best part of it all is that you don't have to share your success with a person who never deserved you in the first place. I honestly think had I not M my XWW my career would have been even better. Congrats bro, you have earned it.

NIK's response is pretty funny!

Thanks for the kind words, stronger. I'm also strongly considering starting a master's degree (part time of course) in January.

Way to go Probableicecream!!

I started a new career a year and a half after Dday and I increased my income by 40%. It's been tough and a huge learning curve but I'm so proud of what I've accomplished on my own and my ability to support myself and my kids in college.

Awesome! I remember thinking it was going to be so hard not to share parts of my life with X anymore and so sad to not feel like a part of his.

Now he's nowhere on my mind when something good or bad happens. I share those moments with the wonderful, healthy people in my life.

Double congrats to you. One for the promotion and the other for the marker of your healing!

He didn't show up for the D...very fitting, seeing as he didn't show up for the M, either : )
