Its been a while since I've been here. Since I'm one of the oldest members here, that's probably a good thing!

I thought I'd pop in to say hello and share my new beginning (non-dating wise).

I've started a new beginning last October at the age of 41 that has been really life changing for me. It took me 12 years to finally start a new beginning that is connecting me with people, working on healing old hurts and learning out to be a more confident counselor at my work.

I joined a 10 month training that is so terrific, that I hate for it to end. At first I was so nervous and didnt' think I would be able to handle it (its one weekend a month) because its deep emotional work where we practice learning new skills on others in the group.

For the first time in several years, I am ALIVE again. I am meeting new people in real life and becoming more in tune with my feelings. I'm like a wide eyed child learning to walk and talk all over again.

I still have my down days, where I feel like giving up on all this work. I feel lonely because I have yet to find a partner to share my life with.

But the good news is that the bad days are less and I have hardly any time to be depressed anymore!

I am really keeping my fingers crossed that this new beginning will be the start of opening up more new beginnings.

thanks everyone!

The training I'm in is for people are would like to be counselors. Its not a degree program, but a condensed version of many different theories and practices with a lot of hands on practice on-site. People with all kinds of backgrounds join - some even just for personal growth. Afterall, you get 10 months of free counseling by many different people in the program as we are all practicing on each other.

What I like about it is the openness of it all...sort of like a "hippy dippy" crowd, where everyone hugs and snuggles all the time. People are willing to open up and share their vulnerabilities and be raw at times.

Its pretty deep and rewarding.

Here is the website if anyone wants to check it out. We got people coming from all over the US to come to these trainings.

http://www.interchangecounseling.com/

all I can say is that its been an amazing journey...and I wish it were 10 more months!
