Pure EVIL!!!

STBX just let our storage unit be auctioned off today without telling me squatt! He got calls. He got a certified letter. He knew!!!

This isnt stuff that can be replaced. Its EVERYTHING we left behind when we moved across country with just a trailer of necessities. It was EVERYTHING our kids had from birth until they went to college...yearbooks...photos...gifts...sentimental stufff. When he cheated on me i sold nearly everything in our 3500sf house at fire sale $$. I kept the stuff that meant the most!!! My yearbooks...family photos...the ring DS24 gave me when he was 8 made out of my wedding band...the best gift ever....i was just telling DS11 about it yesterday!! Original art sooo special ive acquired from artist friends. One of a kind things. Stuff from italy. My grandmothers crucifix....the ONLY thing i took after she died. Tens of thousands of $ worth. Linen custom furniture. Things i made from long ago.

And the F-ING SELFISH PRICK could not even call to tell me! Or say it in one of his hundreds of texts!!!! What do i say to the kids??? How evil is this??? For a $577 balance due!!! Irreplaceable! Unforgiveable!

I am devasted. This deadbeat dad who doesnt pay a lick of CS could have more than made the pmts. For 3 years its ME who gave him the $ to pay.

I feel War of the Roses! I want revenge.

I am so sorry that he is such a selfish jackass. What kind of a monster does this? I would tell your kids exactly what he did. Can you find out who bought the stuff? Maybe you could get back some of the personal items if nothing else.

I am so mad for you right now!

I'm sorry you are in pain. That really is a dickhead move!

I have purchased some storage units at auction before, and it is a rule that you must return any personal items, ie, yearbooks, passports, that sort of thing. Obviously it is up to the person who buys the unit to be honest and return those items. I hope whoever purchased yours does that for you.

sending you strength tonight.

Is there any way to find out who bought the contents?

Do Not Wait! Contact the storage facility and see if you can find ANYTHING out about the buyer. Implore them. Beg. Put ads in Craigslist under the storage auction heading - anywhere where those sorts of buyers look. Start that now while you have to wait for the office to open tomorrow.

I am very, very attached to "things" so I understand the devastation. I would be ENRAGED. The time to move mountains is NOW.

I am so sorry. That is as if he had set fire to your house. I am beside myself with fury for you.

Was your name on the storage unit as well? I'm not sure, but could you contact a lawyer to find out of they could even do that without notifying you as well?

I'm so sorry this happened

I am so sorry, I feel your pain and anger, it's just cruel. My ex was willing to let ours go, too.

He had the storage manager call me 15 minutes before the actual auction (it was a Tuesday at 9 a.m.). We stored a lot of our childhood keepsakes and some irreplaceable family heirlooms.

I tried to scramble to come up with all the money and fees to save it within that 15 minutes because they refused to stop the auction unless I did.

Ultimately, a good friend put it on her card with 2 minutes to spare, because I couldn't get to the bank in time. It was horrible. I can't imagine if it had been sold.

I'm so sorry.

Is there any way to track the buyer? I don't know how it works after it's been sold, but maybe see if someone can help you find and buy back some of your things. That would have been my next plan.

Eta: I would have had some legal recourse because when I filed for D, he was not allowed to stop paying any bills. There are automatic restraining orders that go into effect in my state (which is probably why he had them call me since it was considered community property).

I would be devastated also if I were in your shoes.
Totally wrecked. I would feel hatred that was as hot as the heat of 1000 blazing suns.

I am so sorry and I hope that there is SOME path you can find that allows you to recover your *stuff*.

This makes me.ill, what a cruel asshole. This happened to my best friend too, her kids art projects from kindergarten, birth certificates..everything important. Can you contact the storagemanager and see if they can help. The material valuables prob not but the sentimental things that are only valuable to you. I would give them back if I had them, not everyones a jerk, there are still good ppl out there and just maybe there might be a chance to get your stuff back. Please keep.us posted. I'm so so sorry.

What a pathetic excuse for a man, I'm so sorry I can't even begin to imagine what you are feeling.

I agree with ostrich, call the storage place. Hopefully they will be willing to contact the buyers and pass on your situation and contact details. The stuff that means most to you is probably not the sort of thing they will want to keep.

This is more evil than him beating me up. This is worse than all the evil things he has done (especially lately....see my D/S posts). And I'm sure that HE will be getting a check for the difference between the $577 owed & what the unit sold for.

The ONLY thing keeping me sane is the thought that so many ppl lose everything in fires & hurricanes. And I have my DS11 whose life I would trade ALL my worldly possessions for.

I just never imagined that the man I loved & supported (I worked...he didnt) for 25 years would not only cheat on me....beat me up....not pay cs etc...but would let this happen without so much as a heads up text!!! He texts me his psycho dribble all day every day.

Hate.

depending on how long ago the auction was, please call them!! They will have record of who it was sold to and if by the grace of god they are good people, at least you could get some things that are not resaleable (like photographs) and possibly even let you buy back your things.

I know i am of different ilk, but if a person called me after I bought an auction like that, I would gladly give away thing things i couldnt sell, and try and work a price for the things that I could sell.

What a shitty dirty bag to do this to you.

I really am disgusted with his "lack" of action. It just proves how incredibly selfish some people can be.
One thing/question though, if you were the bread winner throughout your marriage and you both obtained the unit while you were married, why would you not make the rent payment yourself? I guess I don't understand why you would make an extra step of giving him the money and trust him to pay... I pray that you get ahold of the buyers and they work with you to get your treasures back.
