Bladerunner! Bringing Up baby...Sense and Sensibility...Airplane....and Frances Ha is on there for sure. I also love Tree of Life.

Lately I don;t want to watch any movies at all though unless they're just about awesome female friendships or are period BBC adaptations. Those are my safe places from the shitstorm!

Oh lord...so many movies.

1) Practical Magic. Why? Because I want so badly for magic to be real!

2) Any Brat Pack movie. They were original, and funny. Also, any movie with John Cusack.

3) The Jazz Singer. I love Neil Diamond. (thanks, mom)

4) ^ along that vein, Saving Silverman. (such a funny movie)

5) Monty Python's The Holy Grail. Because Monty Python.

6) Grease. It's the word.
7) Xanadu. Because I love cheesy musicals from the 80's.

8) The Princess Bride. Three words: As. You. Wish.

9) Rosemary's Baby. Because it's the first horror movie I ever saw, and it scared the shit out of me.

10) The Way We Were. "Your girl is lovely" is one of the saddest, most bittersweet lines in a movie ever.

eta: I agree with many of the movies already chosen in this thread as well!!!!

I'm not a huge fan of re-watching movies, but Ferris Buellerís Day Off, Rudy, Slapshot, and The Big Lebowski always suck me in.

Well lets see, Any Cohen brothers film
Any Tarentino film
Any Monty PYthon film

Matrix of course. Because it was so different, and so mind blowing. Deja Vu will never be the same.

Singing in the Rain - I just love it.

And last but not least any Esther Williams movie. I mean who doesn't love a good musical in the water.

2 favorites movies I can watch an endless amount of times... I've lost count of how many times I've watched them.

Shawshank Redemption - a story of hope and perseverance. Plus it contains one of my favorite quotes ever: "get busy living or get busy dying".

Planes Trains and Automobiles - it is an extreme comedy of events. too outrageous to ever happen IRL but a pure, (mostly)clean, funny movie. John Candy and Steve Martin made it great.

My Lady and I like to watch movies on the couch, with wine and cuddling. Mostly, but not always, sappy old romantic comedies, because that's the way I roll.

We created a shared document on Google Drive... Because we both have a touch of nerd.

My favorites are on one list or the other. The Shop Around The Corner and We're No Angels are on my every year Christmas movie list. And I just now noticed Groundhog Day is missing. Gotta fix that.

Watched:

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
Some Like It Hot
Christmas in Connecticut
Weíre No Angels
It Happened One Night
Metropolis (The Moroder 80's music version)
Mr. Robinson Crusoe
The Shop Around the Corner
Bringing up baby
The Philadelphia story
High Society
City Lights
Adamís Rib (partial)
On the Town
Harvey
Casablanca
Oscar
Caddyshack

Yet to watch:
Laura
Seven Year Itch
Arsenic and Old Lace
The Maltese Falcon
The Big Sleep
Key Largo
Itís a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
Mystery Science Theater 3000
Born Yesterday
Forbidden Planet
Airplane!
Band of Brothers
Blues Brothers
Blues Brothers 2000
My Cousin Vinnie
The Sting
Aunti Mame
Patton
The Presidentís Analyst

Take care of yourself. There's a great future out there. It won't come to you; you have to go to it.

1)The Sound of Music- because, well, Julie Andrews! Music! I love everything about this movie.

2)Gladiator- I have no idea why I like this movie so much.

Now THERE is a spectrum!!

I LOVE The Sound of Music. Gladiator? Watched once, so sad.

Gaslight

OMG yes!! This is my ALL TIME favorite movie of Ingrid Bergman. "Murder She Wrote" Angela Lansbury is like only 20 in it. The end has to be one my all time favorites ever.

How about:

"Charade"
"Gone With the Wind"
"Titanic"
"The Fugitive"
"Oceans Eleven" George Clooney version
"Murphy's Romance"
"Somethings Gotta Give"
"Hitch"
"Sabrina" Harrison Ford version

Yeah, I tend to be quite eclectic in my tastes in regards to both movies and music.

Titanic is on my list of most hated movies ever.
3 hrs of my life I can never get back, because Rose wouldn't scoot her fat ass over on the plank so Jack could float, too. Or hell, they could have taken turns on it.

Blech.

(sorry for my mini movie rant)

Rose wasn't fat by any stretch of the imagination, but I agree with your other sentiments. There was room for Jack on the float- they could've made it work. Stupid movie. ::grumble grumble::

Three Amigos. Shooting the invisible man, sew like the wind, my little buttercup, a plethora of gifts, the campfire scene. Love it.

Blazing Saddles - because it shows how supremely stupid stereotyping people is, and because it's hilarious.

The President's Analyst and One, Two, Three also do a great job of smashing illusions that should be smashed.

Dr. Strangelove, I'm Alright (All Right?), Jack - incredibly good political satire

A very gentle movie that I wish I could see again: To Jonah, Who will be 25 in the year 2000 - because it's gentle and because it made me look into the Tantra.

Sisoon-

Blazing Saddles is so, so very funny. Dr. Strangelove is really funny, too, but in an entirely different way.

Singin' In The Rain - because every single solitary time I see it, I'm so happy by the end of the movie, I can almost dance down the street just like Gene Kelly (I said "almost")

A Hard Day's Night - because... it's The Beatles!

The Adventures of Robin Hood - because it's Errol Flynn, in tights.

Alien - because I've seen it dozens of times and I still jump in fright.

Rocky Horror Picture Show - because it was already fantastic before the audience got involved, but when the audience is really cooking and in sync, it's an amazing experience!

and sooo many others

Love, love, love movies. I agree with everyone!

If I had to only pick one-
'How Green Was My Valley'-I cry every single time I see it.

My H and I love to do 'movie marathons'
where we see 2 or 3 flicks in a day.

One day we saw "Life is a House" and "Pay it Forward" back to back- That is when I learned to bring tissues in my purse...

What about animated movies?

So I'll throw out my favs-
"The Incredibles" and "The Iron Giant"- Have to say I have a sweet spot in my heart for "Finding Nemo" too.

As "Alien" was just mentioned- I have to agree- love to see a gal on screen kicking ass- Its sequel is also great- "Aliens".

Stopping now or I'll go on forever.
