Are you kidding me? I texted my brother, who is a nurse a pic of my arm, and he responded that it looks like a tick bite.

Great. I guess that the good news is that I have the correct antibiotics to self medicate- save a trip to the urgent care.

Yay. That's what a girl gets for living in the country and sleeping with her dogs......

Do you have Lymes or Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever in your area? If so, it would be worth a trip to urgent care to be checked out.

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

We have a ton of Lyme in this area.

I didn't go to urgent care, but with a mom, brother, and sister all in different fields of nursing, it has been thoroughly reviewed and discussed.

I have some antibiotics that are used to treat Lymes, so I'm taking them. Yay.

Is anyone surprised? I'm the girl that lives in a log home in the middle of nowhere, and sleep with my dogs.

Still negotiating on that house, AMA.

In the meantime, I still have 12 acres of grass to be cut. And dogs to be snuggled....

Usually one dose of Ciprofloxacin will ward off any problems...as a pre=emptive strike

Lyme is not usually contracted in normal healthy people. To assume it's a tick bite and treat without having pulled a tick or seen it is actually NOT recommended. I too live in the woods with tons of ticks. I usually have several bites a year. I have always tested negative and never have taken antibiotics just to be safe.

Unless you have the classic bullseye rash and fever I wouldn't recommend treating.

I've taken several ticks off this year. The bites I've had have been from the larger ticks. I've gotten the deer ticks before they bit. The bites from the others left an itchy swelling that has lasted for several weeks. I did have a doctor look at them at a regular check up but none required any treatment. But boy do they itch!

Don't use antibiotics unless you have a diagnosis...

Kat, when I get bit I get those big red bumps that itch like wildfire for weeks and weeks. So annoying.

But hey that's what you risk when you live in the wilderness.

I wonder why they don't make frontline for humans. LOL I'd use it.

I know. I look ridiculous, pants tucked into socks, long shirt, scarf around my neck, hat, all sprayed with deet. I bathe in skin so soft. The critters still get me. I have a bite in my navel, one at the top of my thigh and one in a VERY private place! Itches like crazy.

They do seem to abate once the hot weather kicks in.
