OK, WH has finally agreed to a polygraph. I know of the affair and want to confirm if there has been any others. I found 2 reputable polygraph examiners from my states polygraph association. One uses the MGQT method and charges $450. The other one uses the UTAH method and charges $350. IF what I heard is correct the UTAH method is supposed to have 93% accurancy and is done with a computer. MGQT is done without a computer and has a 88% accuracy. Then the more I read there are many other methods. Does anyone have experience with any method in paryicular? If so, what method is best to go with? The person conducting the UTAH method said that the other method is mainly used by past law enforcement to detect criminal activity.

My Porn/Sex addiction group uses the top guy one of the top guys in the country. He does this specifically for Sexual Related Issues like this. I could ask and find out the information for you.

Off topic maybe, but your WS should be doing this leg work with you. Right? Why is it always the BS who buys the books, arranges the counseling, sets up the polys....ugh just.frustrates me

That being said, Id go with the higher accuracy. I was just reading an article in a law journal that computers using new facial recognition have higher rates of identifying deception. Not in a lie detector test per se, but IMO high tech is the way to go.

Good luck

I do not know the difference between UTAH and MGQT but I will tell you my experience. I had the choice of asking about one particular matter or multiple ones. So I could either focus on whether the affair was over and only have that answered or have 4 different questions related to his infidelities.

It takes some time to craft these questions so there are no loopholes in the wayward's mind. Also they had to focus on actions not feelings or intentions. Our examiner spent over an hour doing this for 4 questions. Also he noted that the emotions and strength of feelings surrounding one event can throw off the accuracy of others. For example if asking a crook if he also slammed the door on an old ladies foot while escaping might not register if he said no.

He used a computer but also hand scored the outcome to compare. At the end you have a valuation of truthfulness. If I remember correctly, closer to one was more truthful. Five was evasive and three was grey area.

How did you feel when it was over and done with.

I have not gone that route yet, because I feel most likely I will be just as confused when it is over.

What the heck does a BS do with evasive and gray area answers. Start arguing all over again?

In the case of a poly - I would not trust a WS to set it up. I mean, the reason for the poly is lack of trust - I would not trust a WS with this crucial task.

Sorry no info about polygraphs, but I too was interested in getting my husband to take one.

ShiningAutumn8, I was just discussing this with my fWH. Why do we do everything. Reading and posting in SI, ordering books and reading them, research on the net, setting up IC, and then setting up MC. I told him the fact that he only did MC after I again threatened D shows he doesn't care about me or have me as a priority. His response...he still is who he is. Lazy. His way of dealing with things is clamming up and shutting down. Taking the easy way out. He will never be the one to DO. It has nothing to do with his feelings for me. It is just who he is. I said, "No shit Sherlock, why do you think we are here to begin with?" I guess I should be happy he finally realizes his issues at least.

Thank you for all of the responses! I agree with you ShiningAutumn. It sucks the BS ends up doing almost all of the legwork. Lucky2have me has a point though, in this instance I would prefer to set this up. I worry that my husband could try to pay off the tester if he was ever alone with him. I found the person I want to use on my state's polygraph association website so I am hopeful the service provider follows his code of ethics. Seenow-do you recall the final questions you used? I am thinking:

1. Have you had sex with any women since you have been married other than your wife and OW's name?
2. Have you attempted to coordinate a sex with any woman other than your wife and OW's name via phone, text, email, or any other electronic means?

These are the only questions I am certain on. For the last one I want to find out how deep his porn addiction may be. I can't figure out a yes/no question though.

2. Have you attempted to coordinate a sex with any woman other than your wife and OW's name via phone, text, email, or any other electronic means?

I would re-word these as:
1. Since (date of marriage) have you had sexual relations with any woman other than your wife and OW?
2. Since (date of marriage) have you communicated electronically, in person or via phone with any woman other than your wife or OW in an attempt to have sexual relations?
