1. Anything "outdoors". The winters here are long and cold, so as soon as I can get out in the outdoors and do things the happier I am!

2. We have always been "tenters" but just bought a "pop up" tent trailer for camping. It will be nice to have all the "stuff" together and just add the food and clothes and GO!!

3. I grew up with parents that always took us camping in the summers. My Dad worked a lot, so it was always great to have those camping trips together. He always took us fishing/canoeing, and we had campfires at night. As a result I wanted my kids to have the same and we camped too. I hope they have the same great memories of our trips that I do of the ones spent with my parents/brother/sisters!!

4. Everything we cook in the summer months goes on the BBQ! We use it year round, but it always has a wonderful taste when you have cooked it outside.

5. Oh there are so many songs from different times in my life, but an oldie "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry always reminds me of the great times I had as a child.

2. Tent for the adults and separate tent for the kids.

3. My college summers spent lifeguarding with my friends, when my whole world smelled like Coppertone. And probably sweat.

4. Beer?

5. Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street. Immediately brings me back to backyard summer barbecues when I was a little kid.

The theme this time is Summer
1. What is your favorite activity of summer
Napping in a hammock in the shade.

2. What is your kind of summertime lodging while away from home? Hotel or RV or Tent or just a sleeping bag outside
Hotel near the beach. Best of both worlds - AC at night, sand and sunshine during the day.

3. Tell us about about a summertime memory
My parents were educators and had the summers off, so they would load us up in the station wagon and drive us around for weeks visiting national parks like Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, the Badlands.... We would stay with relatives along the way, hanging out with cousins, aunts, and uncles. Stop at all the cheesy roadside "points of interest" like Wall Drug, the largest ball of twine, scenic overlooks, etc. So many fun memories.

4. Favorite food of summer time.
Sweet corn followed by everything else from the farm stand.

5. Name a song that reminds you of summer.
Anything by the Beach Boys

1. What is your favorite activity of summer

BBQ!!! Kids playing in the pool, sunbathing, arguing over whether the sausages are cooked or not. Perfect.

2. What is your kind of summertime lodging while away from home?

Apart from going to visit my dad, I've not been on holiday in eight years

3. Tell us about about a summertime memory

Age 14 on holiday in the south of France. Late summer evenings, mum and step dad drinking wine on the deck with the parents from the neighbouring chalets. Sitting by the pool with holiday friends, listening to music and drinking shandy. Laughing and messing around, being chased around the pool by the boys. Having my first kiss.

4. Favorite food of summer time.

BBQ'd burgers and fresh salad.

5. Name a song that reminds you of summer.

Bruce Springsteen, Hungry Heart and Mungo Jerry, In The Summertime. I remember BBQ's as a child with family and friends. Those songs was always playing and as the mum's got more tipsy as the evening went on they all used to sing them really loudly.

1. What is your favorite activity of summer
Hanging out in the backyard doing BBQ's, steaming crabs, sipping umbrella drinks, watching the grandkids swim in their blow up slide pool.

2. What is your kind of summertime lodging while away from home? Hotel or RV or Tent or just a sleeping bag outside
Hotel. We used to go to Ocean City, MD in the summers but it's just not the same anymore. Looking for another cool beach vacation spot!

3. Tell us about about a summertime memory
Being pregnant with my 2nd DD. 1987. One of the hottest summers on record (100 the day she was born)...she was 2.5 weeks late. While I was pretty much a beached whale , I knew this was my last baby, so I relished every moment of my pregnancy.

4. Favorite food of summer time.
Crabs, Silver Queen corn & home-grown tomatoes!

5. Name a song that reminds you of summer.
Any Beach Boys song!

1. What is your favorite activity of summer?
Sand volleyball league; lazy weekend mornings on the porch with coffee and the paper; lazy weekend evenings around the fire pit in the back roasting smores with the kids; being on the water (lake, river, ocean, pool all work for me)

2. What is your kind of summertime lodging while away from home?
Hotel with a highly functioning air conditioning system (love summer, HATE humidity)

3. Tell us about about a summertime memory
In high school, I had a summer job working in the concession stands at local fairs. One of our teachers/family friends owned them; we were not "carnies" in the true sense. I worked with lots of people from my school. A guy several years older than me - who was the school heart throb - worked with me one week in the lemonade stand. I complained one night how my shoulders hurt from all the shaking. I got the best massage (innocent!) from him, followed by a (not quite as innocent) kiss. I wore that badge with honor for a loooooong time!

4. Favorite food of summer time.
Tomatoes fresh from the garden, with basil from the garden, olive oil, fresh mozzarella and a little salt and pepper.

5. Name a song that reminds you of summer.
Summertime by Will Smith; Airplane by Indigo Girls - and pretty much anything else off that album. I used to roll down my windows, crank the Indigo Girls, and sing at the top of my lungs on my hour and half drive to visit my BFF and now husband back during the summers while I was in college. Can't hear that song without thinking of summertime.

1. Swimming - at the pool, lake or river (and even just getting wet at the splash park or fountains). Outdoor concerts and theatre.

2. If I'm camping, always a tent. But, honestly, I'd rather have a hotel with AC and a shower.

3. Our town does a ton of events for the 4th of July. I absolutely love going and doing as many of them as possible. 3 years ago, my daughter (then 3) woke up with a stomach bug on the 4th. She seemed to be feeling better by mid-morning, so we loaded up for party in the park (where she ate a grape snocone) and then continued on to the concert and ice cream social at the Methodist church. About a half hour in, my daughter vomited that grape snocone all over me and the turquoise carpet/pews. I knew almost everyone in the audience and was mortified. I got us and everything cleaned up and we booked it before anyone could say anything. Two days later, she was admitted to the hospital with acute appendicitis. Every time one of my kids is sick, I freak out.

4. Anything cooked on the grill, watermelon, snocones, home made ice cream.

5. Water - Brad Paisley, Something Like That - Tim McGraw, Strawberry Wine - Deana Carter, Summertime (don't care who does it), anything by the Beach Boys

1. What is your favorite activity of summer?
I love going to Lake Tahoe with my family.

2. What is your kind of summertime lodging while away from home?

Cabin if it's an outdoorsy place. Swank hotel if I'm on an island.

3. Tell us about a summertime memory.
I remember one year at camp I was in LOVE with this boy. I was 11. His name was Scott, and he had red hair, huge freckles, big ears and buck teeth (I still have the group photo). I was smitten. It was my very first crush, and I didn't even think he knew who I was. At the end of camp dance he sent his friend to ask a friend of mine to ask ME if I would dance with him. I said yes and our matchmakers dragged us together, and we danced to Bryan Adams' "Everything I Do."

Every time I hear that song I am transported back to that Cinderella moment.

4. Favorite food of summer time.
Strawberry rhubarb pie and grilled skirt steak.

5. Name a song that reminds you of summer.
Besides the one from Question #3? I'd have to say anything by Santana. My dad plays the heck out of that in Tahoe.

1. What is your favorite activity of summer

Gardening, hanging out, mountain biking, hiking, grilling. I used to do a lot of fishing. I'm probably going to add that to the list again this year.

2. What is your kind of summertime lodging while away from home? Hotel or RV or Tent or just a sleeping bag outside

My favorite would be just a sleeping bag or blanket outside. Seeing the stars in the middle of the night in the Rocky Mountains without any interference from city lights is priceless. With the family, though - we like to rent small cabins.

3. Tell us about about a summertime memory

Spending a week on my cousin's pig farm when he was 10 and I was 12. It was an adventurous week. I also did a lot of fishing with my grandpa when I would visit my grandparents in Nebraska. He taught me how to properly clean and filet fish at a pretty young age. Fun times.

4. Favorite food of summer time.

Anything grilled, BBQ'd, or smoked. Since circe already went there, I'll go ahead and say beer, too.

5. Name a song that reminds you of summer.

The Boys of Summer - Don Henley

1. Beach. Lunch beers. Sunsets (duh) Walking on the beach at night

2. VRBO. Stayed in some nice ones

3. Every time it crossed the Howard Franklin Bridge in Tampa/St. Pete. It was usually an all night drive. The weight of the world literally melted halfway across the bridge. STBX used to watch my face for when that happened. It was (and is) pure magic.

4. Blackened Grouper. Publix sub. Repeat.

5. One Particular Harbor. Tin Cup Chalise. Changes in Lattitude.

Can you tell I'm a beach bum?

Going to the beach.

2. What is your kind of summertime lodging while away from home? Hotel or RV or Tent or just a sleeping bag outside?
Hotel with a pool. A swim up bar is even better.

3. Tell us about about a summertime memory.
When I think of summertime as a kid I always think of school picnics at a local amusment park. Eating ice cream out of styrofoam cups with the tiny wooden spoons, and then being forced to sit still for 30 minutes before getting on any rides so we didn't throw up.

4. Favorite food of summer time.
Anything that can be grilled.

5. Name a song that reminds you of summer.
Summer Breeze, Seals & Croft
Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffet
Boat Drinks, Jimmy Buffet
Summertime, Will Smith
Brown Eyed Girl, Van Morrison
