I am so confused. Met an older gentleman from OLD for lunch. Very interesting person but what he said he was looking for in his profile is not what we talked about.

Profile: My wife has a terminal illness called PICKS and my life revolves around her care. I do have caregivers to assist me so that I can and do get out once in a while.

Looking for friendship and someone to go and do things with and enjoy whats left of life....

What he was really looking for was a FWB! At 71 he felt he could still make a woman happy and that being married didnt bother him and that he in fact resented having to take care of his wife and that in a couple of years all his retirement funds will be depleted due to her medical care.

I went looking for friendship. someone to talk to and just hang out once in a while...i wasnt looking to fuck the old coot. I must start being more picky ro give up the ghost.

Wow. I'm not so shocked that this married man would be looking for a friendship of sorts. I actually know someone whose husband was completely incapacitated mentally and physically and she took care of him around the clock for over ten years. Eventually she met another man who moved in with her and helped her take care of him until he died. But she never once voiced resentment about the cost of his care or how hard it was. It seems this man wouldn't understand what friendship is if he's capable of resenting his terminally ill wife. I'm sorry you had such a bad lunch date. Your story helps me reaffirm by desire to avoid OLD at all costs.

YIKES!!!! Did he flat out ask for a FWB situation?? That is rather forward.... I think I mighta gotten up and walked out on that one if I had drove myself...... ((BelleStar))

IMHO...I never believe a guy "just wants to be friends" if they are on a dating website...

Precisely. Not saying it never happens, but I'd be cautious, to be sure.
