So it looks like XW is on board with everyone relocating to a place that I want to go to. The place I live now is kind of miserable. It's desert, sprawling. I've lived here about 14 years and I've wanted to go to this other place for quite some time.

So... once this is all properly confirmed and we talk to my kid about it, I'm going to redirect my job search to just this other area. There will be a transition period but I think we can do this without having my kid be away from either parent for months at a time for years on end.

Best of luck! Relocation has been an absolute pleasure for me. I can't recommend it enough for those who are able

It is scary. I'm facing a lot of fears lately. Good stuff, but stressful. I went and did some cardio to calm myself down a bit. I do 4/week, but it's flexible and sometimes it just feels good to do it early.

I asked my boss if I could work from a company office in the new location and to my surprise he said it was okay with him but he'd have to check it with some other people. I figured only a 30% chance he'd go for it. I guess sometimes you get cool stuff when you ask for it (in this case just him making an effort for me is cool).

This way I could move up there FIRST, and still have time left to finish looking and I could interview locally. There are of course some down sides to moving earlier, but I think more up sides than down sides.

I know it's scary. I had a place to live, a job transfer, in my mind it was supposed to be a turn key new life. It all fell through but I kept anyways. I know I'll be better off in the end. You will, too. Just keep surviving and adapting.

PIC this is great!! Focus on the exciting part. The move may be scary, but it'll be worth it. You've wanted this for years it'll be better weather, it'll be a better job market, you have an amazing opportunity to transition out easily while you still have your job. I'm excited for you!

Well, hopefully I can move out early, but even if I can't it's still cool. There's pros and cons both ways. :)

It is exciting. Actually more so is me listening to myself instead of pleasing other people. And maybe making the odd mistake along the way, but feeling more alive hopefully, and teaching myself to find my own voice.

I love sprawling desert, and yet I've moved back to the cool greenery of upstate NY. Life is a journey, not a destination, and I hope you truly enjoy yourself along the way.

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

I recently up and moved to a new area with the bunch and have a new job. It's been scary but it's also been pretty awesome.

You'll rock it, PIC.

I've recently moved to stay close to DD and DGD. No job, being Grammy doesn't pay the rent. Looking for work, new friends and discovering my new city is exciting. I love being closer to the beach!! I was an hour in my former home, I'm 15-20 minutes now. I didn't know how much I missed the beach till I lived closer.

Keep us updated. It sounds like your boss knows you're a valuable employee. I hope he can make this work for you.
Good luck
K

That's what it's about.
