For the past week our DD has what appears to be a red mark on her skin. It does not hurt or bother her but we can't figure it out. It's on her foot where her ankle and foot come together on top. If you bend your foot towards the ceiling it is where the bend occurs. If I touch it, it just feels like her skin. It looks like a burn mark but it's not. It's about 2 inches long and 1/4 inch wide.

Anyone seen anything like this? A week and a half ago she wore a new pair of sandals but only for 2 hours. She did not walk any where and just did typical toddler jumping up and down and playing. She's in no pain and only laughs if I rub it.

I'm betting it's a bug bite of some sort. Or a rub mark from the new shoes.

Put some A&D ointment on it at bedtime, if it's gone in the morning, I'm betting it's the sandals. If it's not I'm going with bug bite, for which I'd put some cortisone cream on it, and see what happens. Redness means irritation. There can be a million and one causes. At least she isn't itchy or in pain.

Like tushnurse said, DD gets that when she wears new shoes and they rub. Even though I'll notice the mark immediately, it usually takes a bit of time for it to go away.

Sometimes if it's a place that sees a lot of contact (ie OTHER shoes) it will take a while to calm down.

Look up ringworm. It could be that.
