My son signed up for little league this year. He really hit the coach lottery. The head coach and two assistant coaches have been awesome and very supportive of him.

This is the championship game tonight. He could really use some support. Every time he was at bat and didn't swing he would get walked to first. When he did swing he would strike out. Except for once when the opposite team caught the ball.

Can I ask for some batting mojo tonight? I know one or two really good hits would give him the confidence boost he needs.

Thank you so much

We lost 14-11. It was a good game. We made some great plays, we missed some easy balls and throws, but it was a great time.

How did he do batting? Is he just in a slump?

It's tough to see your kids struggle. DD12 has played softball for a few years now, but up until this year she wasn't very good. She also struck out a lot.

But this year something clicked and she's been doing great. She only struck out twice all year!

So tell your DS to stick with it and keep trying his hardest. He will be so happy and proud when he succeeds.

He didn't do well.

He was up to bat two times and he struck out both times. After the last time he sat in the dug out crying. I tried to get his attention so I could talk to him but he was too upset. One of his team mates asked if he was all right and I told him he was upset. That boy was on DS10 like a shot! He was telling him that it's all right, everyone strikes out. He said "We've all stuck out. Even the pros strike out." The boy tried to take DS10's helmet off so he could look at him in the eyes while he was talking to him. I almost cried watching that. It was so sweet. After that game I pulled his mother aside to tell her what her son did and she was touched.

DS10 was on an amazing, supportive team.

After the game the team had to vote for six players to play in a (for lack of a better word) exhibition game. The coaches announced the players who were picked at the ice cream stand. When he got to the last slot it was a four way tie. The coach said "The other coaches and I got together and picked this last player. This player was at every practice on time, if not early. He was at every game, but most importantly he showed heart." When the coach was saying that the rest of the team got behind DS10 and was pointing over his head. Then the coach looked right at DS10 and pointed and "It's you." Everyone cheered. Again, I almost cried.

So, even though we came in second, DS10 had a fantastic experience and made some great friends. He looking forward to Fall Ball in September.

What a wonderful ending to a story who's start was troubled.

It really is a happy ending.

Unfortunately, there's a catch. DD7 has her ballet recital on the same day. I'm hoping that it isn't at the same time so we can go to both. If not, we either have to split and I miss the recital or my son can't play in the game and we all go to the recital because the tickets have already been purchased.

I tried talking to DD7 last night and she doesn't want me to miss her recital, and neither do I. I told her that we will be able to plan better once the time of the game is announced.
