GotPlayed: Awesome job on the gaming rig. Must be nice having a DD8 to appreciates frame rates.

DefiledRage: What's SOA? I haven't watched TV in forever. Upcoming D means I'll have time so I guess I need to find out what's good on.

SOA = Sons of Anarchy. Great show. Very well written so that even if you're not into motor cycle clubs the show still stands on it's own with the story line. Haven't seen last season myself yet though I know of the spoiler from that last episode just mentioned. Waiting for the DVD which will be out shortly.

Hey YOP - I am getting ready to try this beer from Maine called "Baxter Stowaway IPA". Never had it before, but I figure you are closer to that region, and would probably know. Any good?

I see what you did there Losfer. If you're trying to draw me out of hiding to talk beer I'm all in. I have heard of Baxter and have actually done a tour of their brewery up in Maine. That one in particular you mention is fantastic summer IPA. I drink them pool side and bring them to BBQs. Enjoy it.

@tred

All of us are beer snobs, even you probably. I like odells mercenary double IPA, or even a sierra Nevada torpedo. A Stella or a Trumer Pils.

Others may struggle with choosing between a 36 pack of hams light or busch. Natty ice or old Milwaukee.

See? Snobs all of us.

Welcome to poverty. I already pay child support on 2 kids and now I'm going to pay for three more.

Looking forward to ramen noodles and cherios. And Tred's brand of "beer".

ETA: After living in Colorado is crudweiser still considered beer?

Back in my poor single days, getting a 15 pack of Strohs was a treat. I subsisted off of Blatz beer. It was $3.98 a case. Cheaper than soda. So occasionally, actually very rarely, you gotta pop open a 40. Just so you don't forget your roots.

I've lost the taste looooooong ago for Old E, and they don't sell micro-brews in anything larger than 32oz. I'm hosed.

If faced between blatz and a glass of water, I'll take the water

Herk,

I remember the 15 packs of Stroh's...that was my go to back in the day. Then the brewery got bought (I think it was by Schaeffer?) and they changed the formula. Ruined it for me. After living in Oz for seven years, I lost my taste for most US beers. When we moved back to the states, I just went for consistent. Ergo, Bud Light. I actually prefer a good German Pils, such as Koenig, but it's hard to find everywhere. So I defaulted to a beer that was available at just about every watering hole, and that you can find on the golf course in a can. It's a damn shame Australia doesn't export beer. And no, Foster's in the states isn't an Aussie beer - I think it's brewed by Miller under a licensing arrangement. I've found Coopers and Tooheys every now and then, but not consistent enough to be an everyday drop. Each to their own . As they used to say in Rome, "taste is not to be disputed" or something like that.

Being stationed in a NATO assignment about 15 years ago ruined my taste for domestics. Before that a case of coors for $7.98 hit the spot. After my return stateside though I bought a case, cracked the first one, and spit it in the sink.

Took the rest to the range and used the cans for exploding targets!

I have had a couple of crudweiser products over the years when offered, but I try not to make a habit of it.

Ah Yes, thanks to my new location I am enjoying the experience of a good German Pils quite a bit now. My WW has taken a liking to the Hefeweisen, however, it tastes like drinking horse food to me.

BTW Gents -

Had to swing by a farm yesterday with the STBXWW and kids, and the folks had a dozen llamas. And so help me God I am still giggling like a school girl becuase I couldn't stop thinking about DefiledRage's Drama Llama caption.

The farmer and the kids thought I was a couple cans short of a six pack giggling and petting the damn things with the kids. I felt no need to elaborate.

LostSamurai: I just recently got a 55 inch Samsung LED Smarttv with 3d and a ps4.

I was at costco the other day and saw a 75" quad density TV. At $5K I'm not going to buy it, but I did think to myself, I totally could and STBX wouldn't have shit to say about it.

Kind of a good feeling. After getting kicked in the balls every day for six months, these things somehow help.

Cheap path to good beer:

http://beersmith.com/blog/2009/12/05/malting-barley-grain-at-home/

Takes awhile, but barley from the feed store in bulk is, what, 30 bucks for a 50 lb?

If you already have a smoker, you can use that instead of the oven and just be real fucking old school like that.

Boom, malted barley. Rauchbier style, even.

Allow me to introduce you to my Sager NP8258:

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8258-clevo-p157sma-p-6988.html

She has a 3.8 Ghz i7 processor backing up a brand-spanking new Nvidia GTX880 with 8 gigs of GDDR5 vram.

Between dual mSatas and the two standard hdd bays, I'm running a full TB of SSD, plus another TB of standard 7200 rpm hdd.

She runs cool, silent, and doesn't fret about anything I've thrown at her. In fact, she takes it all and begs for more, just to show me how well she can perform.

She boots Windows 8.1 from a dead stop in under 5 seconds.

(And while we're talking about our favorite WW's lines, mine was "1) You don't have the right to punish me, and 2) I don't deserve to be punished for this forever...despite the obvious fact that at the core of my affair, I was punishing you for your perceived failures and yes, what I have inflicted on you, I fully expect you to suffer from for the rest of your life.

I expect you to be a bigger person because, frankly, I deserve better out of life than what I've given others up to this point. Isn't that what getting healthy is all about? Don't you dare stand in the way of my self-entitled plan to make myself a better person and get all that I deserve out of life, even if that does involve me climbing a hill of the corpses I've left in the wake of my destruction."

That might be reading between the lines a little. You'll have to forgive me. It's been awhile since my wife and I were in that stage.

It is an exercise in irony that we have the phrase "putting myself first" in healing...which is sort of how we all end up in this mess in the first place. Only now it's a healthy behavior for those who have always put their needs last -- with the exception of cock-gargling, where our wives found ways to jump to the front of the line...but I suppose it is, in fact, hard to find one's voice when your throat is chock full of dicks.
