A few days ago a cat roamed into our neck of the hood and our son crouched down and stuck his hand out and made a new friend. He started asking if he could get a cat. Well, as it so happens BW's friend's cat had kittens. Our son asked his mom if we could have one. She said no. He asked her for a couple days, and even drew a cute picture of a cat. BW explained to me that it wasn't a good idea because of all the uncertainty right now. If she's not staying, there's no point in getting one and it would be one less thing to worry about. I, of course, understood completely.

This morning they went to see if our dogs would get along with one of the kittens.

Wait, what??

They just got back... with a kitten...

I said "what made you change your mind?"

She looked at me and said "....Why not?"

Why not indeed.

I hope I'm not breaking a rule by responding since I'm a BS. But I was touched by this, even teared up. Don't know why it got to me lol. But I wanted to say YAY for you. Sometimes it's the little signals sent by our spouses that keep us going, whether we're BS or WS. Beat of luck to you all!

Best post ever. Awesome update and talk of kittens. All that's missing is a photo of the new family addition!

Well.

OK.

You asked for it!

But don't blame me if this brightens anyone's day.
I'm not a trained therapist and I accept no responsibility for anyone smiling or "aww"ing because of this photo.

So very cute! Congratulations! Kittens are the best! There's a photo of my furry one up in OT. Take a jump over and check her out! Does your little one have a name?

Congratulations! Two little kittens have been an important part of my healing. Kittens can bring a smile when nothing else will. I can't think of a better distraction!

My kittens are now full grown cats, and they aren't as silly as they were in the first year, but now, they bring comfort in a different way. For me, there is nothing more comforting than relaxed, purring cat in my lap.

There is actual research that cats (and dogs) will lower blood pressure. I don't know if I would have survived without them.

Wow this is too funny. My BS and I were just yesterday looking at a dog. As we already have a cat. LOL yet another example that we are all on our different paths together.

Awwww...I want a kitten too, but I allergic :(

I do agree that my pet (dog) helped me immensely over the last two years. Just having a warm body next to me provided so much comfort when I felt I couldn't trust another human. My Zayda pup is my best comfort!

It is good that you are feeling some hope from this experience.

Remember to take one day at a time with this and enjoy this new little creature with your son.
