Every summer when I go to the beach I envy the women who can wear bikinis and make them look good...I also envy the women who wear bikinis and dont make them look as good...but they are still comfortable enough in their bodies to wear them anyway.

The days of bikini wearing for me are long gone...though im thin enough to wear one, I dont feel comfortable exposing my mommy stripes to the world...I am proud of each and every one but dont want to show them off.

I will stick w my mom bathing suit....the tankini that keeps my stripes covered!!!

Comment if you are proud of your mommy bathing suit!!!

After DD, I only had a few stripes. However after DS, not only did the stripes increase but they refused to fade. Like, at all. I was very self conscious of them for a long time. But then one day my kids were rubbing my stomach and DD said softly to DS, "Those are Mommy's scars of love. They prove she's a real mommy." (Not knocking mothers who are mothers by other means. Just how she interpreted my body.) Funny. After she said that and after seeing the admiration on both children's faces, my stripes didn't bother me anymore.

I'm lucky that my stretch marks are on my hips - mostly covered by any swimsuit - and that I'm so pale that they mostly are not very visible. However, I've got a little too much extra fluff to feel comfortable in a bikini. So tankini it is.

I'm not a mommy, but I am a "bigger" girl. I wear board shorts and a top that's like a tank top with the built in bra. It's all about comfort for me.

I have all the swimsuits. one piece, tankini, board shorts and tank tops, and even a bikini.

I don't actually have the body for a bikini. So, I mostly wear it around the pool in our back yard. And, we have a VERY judgey neighbor who was once telling me how another neighbor C wore a bikini around, and it was inappropriate, and she was too big for it, and she was the laughing stock of the neighborhood. I said "C has a fence" and judgey woman said "that doesn't matter when your neighbors have 2 story houses."

So, now C and I chill at her pool, in our bikinis, with a frozen beverage. I guess we're the laughing stock now, but, at least we aren't alone.

But, I am pretty proud of my tankini. I love it and it's comfortable and I can wear it to aqua zumba without having to readjust all the time.

I was pregnant with 14.5 lbs of twins, and two other big babies. I still wear a bikini. At age 48. I'm so tired of apologizing to other people for not being the person THEY want me to be. FTS, I say.

I only wear Tankini's because I don't want to make others ill, or embarrass my kids, my mommy scars are so bad that my OB even commented on them.
I'm a little too thick right now, so the Bikini is put away for now.
I have worn Bikini's since the kids were born though, and could give a whip what anyone else says or thinks, honestly. The people who make coments are the ones who are jealous because they don't have the confidence to do it.

I have a great friend that is at least 300 pounds, and she wears a sport bra style swim top and shorts, and honestly she doesn't look bad in it. But she also wears it with confidence.
So stand tall, show your stripes/scars/and other parts, and enjoy the sun.

HECK YEAH I rock my bathing suit with my wee one! I too have all the types and wear what I'm comfortable with depending on where we are but mostly I rock a super cute tankini from Target that I got this year. However in Vegas I totally rocked my bikini!

ETA- Have you seen this?

I don't care for bikini's manly because I've got these damn thighs that meet in the middle and rub and it's uncomfortable!

I wear bike shorts to the water park... they fit tight and keep my thighs from getting rub burns...

I wear a long sleeved SPF swim shirt with a regular sports bra under it... because I don't want to get sunburned... I want to have fun and not worry about discomfort later...

It's all form fitting and shows off my bulges, but I don't care about any of that... I'm comfortable.

Im 5'0 and had a 10 lb baby.

'Nuff said.

I look great except for my tummy. My tummy looks like a can of biscuits exploded. I probably will never feel ok wearing a bikini again (not that I felt ok when I was 120 lbs and looked HOT wearing a bikini!! )

Im ok with that!

I wear a cute bathing suit and swim shorts.

I've had three 9+ lb babies (bordering 10 lbs), and my tummy shows it!

That being said, I have worn a one piece for years. I am thin enough for a bikini, but I just don't see the need to walk around practically nude in order to enjoy the water and sun. I didn't even get it when I was in high school and opted for one pieces then because I found them to be immensely more practical. I was a competitive swimmer and SCUBA diver. The LAST thing I want to worry about is having to stop and "adjust" in the water because things aren't where they are supposed to be. It is ALL about comfort and practicality for me and always has been. Could not care less what others think!

I'm not ashamed of my battle scars of baby baring... However, I'm more comfortable in a stylish one piece suit. Breastfeeding 3 kiddos left me with increasingly bigger boobs with each baby. Being 4'10" with a petite frame and now size 36DDD milk producing boobs (I just had a baby 2 wks ago), I don't think I can keep these big girls in a little bikini top, lol... I have starch marks and a little loose skin from my first two pregnancies, but that was 10 yrs ago so they're very faded by now. Thankfully I've got no new stretch marks with this recent pregnancy. Just about 15 lbs to lose to fit back into my pre pregnancy clothes.
I managed to find a very cute/sexy one piece suit at a pinup girl clothing store. It looks like those classic sexy bathing suits from the 1940's or '50's. Cinches my waist nicely

Rock whatever you're comfortable in! I hate when ppl needlessly judge others who aren't bothering anyone!

I have worn board shorts for years but this summer I bought the sexiest one piece halter top bathing suit that might be my favourite piece of clothing ever. I can't believe how good I feel in it. I'm sold on one pieces now! It's a bonus that it is gathered round the middle a bit and hides my tummy nicely!

Your neighbors should live next to me! I've been known to retrieve an escaped animal (mostly our inside cat who is too sheltered to know the danger of cars) or tend the chickens wearing next to nothing! (And no, I don't have what our culture considers a "bikini body"!

As far as bathing suits, I have a couple of adorable, retro one pieces, but only because there is glass and trash on the nude beach here.

Reading the responses to this post makes me want to have us all go out and have a big beach party in whatever makes us comfortable - bikini, tankini, board shorts or whatever. It is so refreshing to be real.

Mom of an 8 lb 2 oz, 8 lb 10 oz and a 9 lb 12.5 oz -- I always say I have a love/hate with my body - yes there are things I don't really like but darn I love how well it has worked for me!

BreatheAgain10, I hear ya on the milk boobs, but when we were at the pool a few weeks ago my LO loved the easy access she had in a bathing suit!!

I wear the tankini and shorts over the bottom. Or I've also done the skirt bottom and tankini top. My legs are what bother me the most. Also, the sun isn't good for my tattoos but I like when you can see them.

I'm not sure about that whole, "oh no one notices your flaws," thing. Yesterday at the bank, DD2 pointed out the varicose vein that I'm highly self concious about and would sell a kidney to get rid of...and started petting it like a dog. So yeah...going to the beach for vacation on Friday...think I'm going to wear jeans.
