I had a Spirograph!

Seems like the ink on the colored pens ran out pretty quickly, though, and we ended up just having to use standard blue/black pens.

@simplydevastated

We had that too - my favorites were Q*Bert and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Of course, before we had the Atari, we had:

a Pong console. Played only Pong with a few different modes. I don't remember now exactly what ours looked like or who made it - I know it wasn't the original Pong console, probably a cheaper knockoff.

The thing I remember most about it was my dad claiming to be afraid it would mess up the TV, so we weren't allowed to hook it up in the living room. We had to connect it to the TV in my parents' room, which limited how much we could play it. I think it had less to do with "messing up the TV" and more to do with "not wanting to have to deal with kids playing the game when dad decided he wanted to watch TV."

When we got the Atari, we were allowed to put it in the living room, but we weren't allowed to be on it after dad got home from work.

Dixie - I still have my Spirograph, too. I spent countless hours with that and my four color pen.

Losfer the colored pens did run out quickly!!

NIK, you are just too cool. I already knew that, but you solidified it. I want to come see the treasures you still have at your house.

I still have this one.

This was my favorite doll as a child. She was in rough shape so I bought a pristine one off ebay.

Growing forward

Sadly, I don't have many treasures. Most of them were stored at my mom and dad's house when their basement flooded, and we lost almost everything down there to mold. RIP to the many dance costumes, well-loved stuffed animals, and countless cool books, games, and toys.

Including a whole lot of Fisher Price Little People sets-

Cotton Candy was my favorite. Although I have to say, I really like the new MLP and have a VERY hard time saying no to Baby Green when she wants MLP toys. I had this one too:

My little sister had THIS baby Chrissy doll! Loved her - her hair grew! Then you pushed a button on her tummy and the hair got short again. Like MAGIC!

Bless You Baby Tenderlove - my favorite baby doll. She had the cutest little sneeze when you squeezed her tummy. This is another one that I think may still be in mom's attic.

@waiting @lucky -

We had the clackers too - I think they were another toy that was actually my brother's.

I'm pretty sure the ones we had were not made of glass - they were a translucent (yellowish, I think) lucite.

What I do remember for sure - they hurt like a son-of-a-gun when my brother "accidentally" (on more than one occasion) played with them too close to me. If I remember correctly, my mom finally confiscated them from him after one too many "accidents".
