So...

I received a very mild rebuke admonishing me to be mindful of my gestures (evidently I shrug my shoulders ). Half of my staff would like more meetings (which means the other half is violently opposed to them; I know this to be true ) but, OK, I'll hold more meetings.

The team lead was told to return to work today. She sent a rather legally worded letter saying that she would not return under the present circumstances (I guess because I'm still employed-who knows) I don't know how this is going to play out, but I've asked for clarification as I have to make some major scheduling changes, and if I need to leave her out of the rotation, I'll need to know. Finally, if she does return to work, we have to play nice. Oops; there I go rolling my eyes again...

He did drop a very weird bomb. They are closing the New Hampshire lab and moving operations to Worcester, MA. I don't know what this means for my manager, as she lives with her husband in NH. Probably 13 people will be losing their jobs.

I can almost see this happening in my location. We get deliveries from the Canadian border, west to Buffalo, south to the Catskills and east into Massachusetts and Vermont. Once the stuff gets to us, it gets poured off and then forwarded to NJ at the end of the night. The company purchased a lab in Utica several years ago; I can see them setting up an operation like ours in that place. It would make more sense for Buffalo, as we are just a pass through for their work. The MA & VT work could go to Worcester. My job may not be very stable. Sounds like a normal day in the life of Sazzy...

Shoot, Sazzy. How many more life lessons get thrown your way before things settle? Office politics are the WORST.

Reading all this just makes me incredibly grateful for my team at work. I'm close to both of them, we hang socially and my boss always shows up with Starbucks if we're working extra hard. Bless her heart.

You have a great attitude my friend. Learning to roll with it is half the battle. You deserve SO much better.

Onward.

I don't get it--why are they backing this woman up and caving in her to her bullying? Why is she even still employed there and pulling the strings?

What has HR been saying to you? Can you communicate to them that you are feeling under attack? Ugh.

Sit. Feast on your life.

They're not backing her up; they are just not acting on this in hopes that she will just quit. They are terrified of being sued--even though they talk a good game. I can't tell you how many times I've been told she'll probably quit.

She starts her practicals in nursing school this fall and can't work full time; we are so swamped, a part time employee won't help (it's very difficult to replace positions once they are changed, i.e., full time to part time) and a part time team lead is of no help to me. I'm already covering for her from 4pm-5:30, and I'm not getting the work she promised from 12:30am-2am under the current arrangement.

What irks me is that they keep bringing up 'conflict'--there was NO conflict. This was all manufactured by a spoiled little bitch who saw the handwriting on the wall and decided to see what she could get out of it. She was directly involved in a situation with another employee who was unfit for the job and with whom we had to jump through hoops to get rid of. She's following that playbook.

Ugh. Lazy dingbat aside, with them closing a lab and laying people off you should probably start stock-piling money and job hunting during your downtime.

I hear New Mexico is nice
