They are all the healthy kinds. No chips or donuts. But still. Today everything is just a vehicle for what I really want to eat:

butter
bacon
avocado
nuts
olive oil
bacon fat
butter
coconut oil

I didn't sleep well last night so I'm tired and I know undersleeping makes you eat more calories.

Is bacon fat a healthy kind of fat? I honestly do not know, my husband and I are one of the few people in the world who DO NOT like bacon, lol. I have heard that in a choice between turkey bacon and real bacon it is better to go with the latter. When it comes to fats we are pretty limited. We use olive oil, coconut oil, and ghee.

But OMG, I love avocado yumyumyumyumyumyumyum. Sometimes for dinner I will just have eggs with an avocado or chicken. Not only is it super creamy delicious it is filling.

I didn't realize that undersleeping made you hungry, but it explains a LOT in my case.

I'm pretty sure that bacon and bacon fat are categorically unhealthy.

In related news, I had 5 pieces of AMAZING, preservative free, salty, crunchy bacon with dinner because I worked my ass off on the bike today. Everything in moderation, right?

I had gastric bypass Wednesday and seriously have been craving a grilled chicken sandwich and fries from Wendy's. Instead I ate chicken soup flavored protein "shake" with a teaspoon of mashed potato flakes for texture, onion powder and garlic powder. And some unsweetened ice tea. Fries... Omg... French fries...

butter, bacon and bacon fat are good for you???

GOOD FATS

Monounsaturated fat Polyunsaturated fat
◾Olive oil
◾Canola oil
◾Sunflower oil
◾Peanut oil
◾Sesame oil
◾Avocados
◾Olives
◾Nuts (almonds, peanuts, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, pecans, cashews)
◾Peanut butter
◾Soybean oil
◾Corn oil
◾Safflower oil
◾Walnuts
◾Sunflower, sesame, and pumpkin seeds
◾ Flaxseed
◾Fatty fish (salmon, tuna, mackerel, herring, trout, sardines)
◾Soymilk
◾Tofu

Saturated fats and trans fats are known as the “bad fats” because they increase your risk of disease and elevate cholesterol.

Appearance-wise, saturated fats and trans fats tend to be solid at room temperature (think of butter or traditional stick margarine), while monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats tend to be liquid (think of olive or corn oil).

BAD FATS

Saturated fat Trans fat
◾High-fat cuts of meat (beef, lamb, pork)
◾Chicken with the skin
◾Whole-fat dairy products (milk and cream)
◾Butter
◾Cheese
◾Ice cream
◾Palm and coconut oil
◾Lard
◾Commercially-baked pastries, cookies, doughnuts, muffins, cakes, pizza dough
◾Packaged snack foods (crackers, microwave popcorn, chips)
◾Stick margarine
◾Vegetable shortening
◾Fried foods (French fries, fried chicken, chicken nuggets, breaded fish)
◾Candy bars

Eat away, InnerLight! What you listed are all healthy fats. Our bodies need them to function properly.

Note to everyone: There is no link between saturated fats and heart disease! Never was. We've been fed junk science for the last 50 years.

Carbohydrates are the villains. Since people cut down on meats, cheeses, eggs, fats, (all healthy, by the way), they've replaced them with carbs! Carbs are making people obese and diabetic.

N
ot only is it super creamy delicious it is filling.

That's because about 85% of avocado's calories come from fat--a good fat, but fat nevertheless. And fat satisfies appetites!

For the last 7 months I have been eating healthy, raw, nothing processed, no soda, no junk, fresh whole ingredients, good fats, minimal carbs, etc.

Sunday, I made DD22 drive me to the convenience store to buy candy, chocolate particularly. 2 Chunky bars later......

SSM - your list of good and bad fats is all mixed up!

While I won't say bacon is a health food, it is higher in monounsaturated fats than walnuts. I am not worried about saturated fats as they are not the cause of heart disease but they do come w fat soluble vitamins like A that are hard to get elsewhere. Better bacon than corn oil!

Anyhow, I did get some more sleep and I don't feel so quite in need of soothing today.

My diet (normally) consists of very limited carbs (mainly from veggies), moderate protein, and about 60% fat.
Eets goooooooood!!!

ETA:
Fat is 9 calories per gram vs. 4 calories per gram for protein and carbs.
So its higher in calories, but is a lot more satisfying so you (should be able to) eat less.

Cut down on carbs? Cut down on fats? Eat clean?

What does it matter? There's really only one food rule:

If it's totally delicious, either it's bad for you, or it will make you fat. Or both.

Some people manage to persuade themselves that they love what they are supposed to eat. Some are pretty useless at self-salesmanship.

You can probably guess into which category I fall.

My diet (normally) consists of very limited carbs (mainly from veggies), moderate protein, and about 60% fat.

Eets goooooooood!!!

I had to kill carbs when I got pregnant (insulin resistance) and I dropped 15 pounds in the first trimester. I did dial up the fats, but then my triglycerides went haywire.

I think I've found a good balance now, but I was interested to hear what you eat Gaby, cause after seeing your pictures I'm like, "Damn! I'll have what she's having!" Veggies... why did it have to be veggies?
