You won't be able to handle the details. I'm starting to disgust myself.

At least I'm clean. I do that (almost) every day. I may skip a day on the weekends.

My country house is cleaner than the city house. That's all I will admit to.

Question. Does one need to clean the oven/pots and pans if one never cooks? If not, I'm good to go.

Strike that one off the list.

I do more than the recommended for everything except the car and my purse. The purse thing will go clean that tonight!
I rarely set my purse down anywhere...

The car.... I hate washing my car, that I do maybe 4 times a year. On everything else, I would probably be considered approaching germophobe status. Which is kind of funny because I never consider everything to be that clean. So either I am cleaner than I thought or a lot of people are nastier than I realized.

And people, wash your darn sheets... 4-7 weeks, really?

Pots and Pans: Three times a year (deep cleaning)????

I mean, really? Is that normal?

I don't pull out my pots and pans specifically every 4 months, but I rarely put them in the dishwasher. I have had some for more than 25 years and they are still shiny.

Apparently I waste my time cleaning all the wrong things; toilet, floors, fridge, ceiling fans, cupboards, blinds, baseboards, light switches, door knobs, remotes, cell phone. I’ve never touched the window screens, and have no desire to wash my purse weekly. Also not worried about blasting every last organism with bleach, ammonia, and boiling water. If I can't see it, and I'm not eating off it, I DON'T CARE My house is still a mess.

With 5 furbabies, if I only cleaned my carpets once a year, they'd likely be solid black.
We vacuum at least every other day.

I won't win any housekeeping awards, but I won't scare off anyone's mother if they drop in for a surprise visit either (well...most of the time anyway).
I hate dirty kitchens and bathrooms, so those are always clean. The rest of the house on the main level is always visually tidy.
The upper level (the bedrooms and 2 bathrooms) is Thunder Dome- every man/woman/child for himself. Comp'ny shouldn't be upstairs.

Why isn't the microwave listed?

if it's not on the list, that means that it doesn't need to be cleaned???

I'm with Gaby. no one has gotten ebola or ringworm from me not keeping a spotless house, so I call it good.

although when I'm rich and famous, I will have clean sheets every single night .

Interesting list. Definitly missing some... like the purse

The oven doesn't get cleaned that often -- but to be fair it doesn't get used that often either

I'm slightly fanatical about cleaning my sheets. I didn't used to be - until I saw that commercial a couple of years ago where it had the people jumping into the sheets that *looked* clean, but then hey showed you all the dirt/germs you weren't seeing.

Made me totally paranoid. Drives my kids crazy.

Oh dear Lord. Now I know I'm a germaphobe. I probably clean most of those things at least 4 times more often than they recommend.

I do some of those more often than I should and others not nearly often enough (example: screens and windows ).

I don't understand "deep cleaning" pots & pans. That doesn't make sense to me. What do you deep clean? Isn't washing them cleaning them? How much cleaner are they supposed to be?

Cleaning house is not my go-to activity. Ever. I do clean, but I don't like it. There is clutter in my house. It won't kill us. To the people who make these kind of lists and then expect me to jump to attention & start cleaning, I say a hearty "Fuck you!"

I may be a tad obsessed with cleaning. LOL.

THIS. Cleaning is my yoga and my punching bag all at once.

I went away for a girls weekend this last weekend and while everyone slept in trying to recover (I don't suffer hangovers) I scrubbed that kitchen from top to bottom. There was margarita spillage from the night before I arrived and I couldn't stop staring at it all night.

They roused at about 10am and busted me on my knees scrubbing the cupboard doors. Ooops.

Shannon Lush's books are a favourite. A tip for those with dust mite allergies - seep a few plain teabags in hot water to make a strong tea mix then when it cools pop it in a spray bottle and spray your mattress each week and let it dry before you put new sheets on. I make it in a big batch and keep it in a spray bottle. Also sniffing a dry teabag helps ease the symptoms.

I also learned an interesting thing on "Is Your House Killing You" - bleaches and the like actually feed mould due to the sugars in it. Vinegar on the other hand kills it because the mould eats the vinegar until it explodes. I clean my bathrooms using chemicals but always end with a generous spray of vinegar everywhere, especially nooks and crannies susceptible to mould.

My other favourite is metho to clean windows. Quick spray, quick squeegee and a quick buff with a chamois and voila - you have sparkling windows. It used to take me hours because I'd scrub them with a napisan solution (a laundry soaker) then rinse, then dry then buff. Metho does the trick in under 5 mins per window.

Yeah - I totes just t/j'd a thread about cleaning. I've been considering getting a side job cleaning bathrooms. Less for the money and more for the enjoyment/workout. As weirdo goes this is a pretty good weird to be.

I may have reached a point where I'd piss on him if he was on fire.... eventually!!
