What weight loss program has worked for you? How long have you been on it and how many pounds have you lost?

I need to lose 15 lbs and nothing seems to work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I lost 85lbs on Weight Watchers about 7 years ago. I hated getting weighed every week, but it made me accountable. I learned some very good eating and lifestyle habits that have stayed with me to this day.

It's eminently do-able because you can truly eat anything. Your only restrictions are the # of points (which correspond to calories) you can eat a day. You have to fit what you want into that structure in order to lose weight but you can mitigate it with exercise. They even build in 'cheat' points. During the process, I even went to Las Vegas and still lost half a pound that week.

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

I lost 70 lbs tracking food and exercise on my fitness pal. Their food database is huge and for anything not in there, you can scan the barcode and it loads immediately.

For exercise, I do Zumba and strength training. The key is to find something you really enjoy. I've always felt Zumba was invented for women like me, who LOVE to dance but are really past the age where you can go shake it at a nightclub.

The one tried and true is weight watchers.
Quick weight loss I've been successful with Atkins. Long term keep it off though weight watchers or some variation of it.
I've lost 60 and 40 pounds on it and managed to keep it off for a couple years each time.

It works because it's not crazy and it's sustainable.

Lost 15 on WW and have kept it off for 4 years. I used Spark people to double track and liked their forums better.

I became a coach for Take Shape for Life (Medifast) after losing 60lbs. Unfortunately, I didn't deal with my food issues and it's been slowly creeping back on.

After the first 50lbs I started working out and running and that felt great even though it stalled the weight loss. Not the inches lost though. The muscles are still there but I have to adapt because I have a bad knee that the weight gain isn't helping.

I've got to get back on plan- which is great. It's a healthy way to lose weight fairly quickly.

But I'm tempted to just do what my doctor suggested and do a 1200-1500 cal diet. It's harder to do that in a healthy way though.

One thing that you might try is a eucaloric diet. Calculate what calories you need for the weight you want to be. Then eat thse calories. The idea is your weight will (very) gradually come ooff but you'll never have to change your eating habits because you ARE eating how you're supposed to eat at that weight.

I had good success on weight watchers and kept it off for several years, but then gained it back.. I tried to go back to it a few times, but the points and calculating everything was a pain.. Now I watch calories. I use sparkpeople. I've learned that for me, I know what healthy eating is... cut out the processed food, add more fruits and veggies, healthy mono and poly unsaturated fats and less saturated fats.. cut out the "white stuff" and eat whole grains (real ones, not processed ones). Lean meats and veggie based proteins.. sparkpeople is good because you can use the nutrition guides at the end of the day to see how you are doing with getting the right nutrition.
And I added more exercise - aerobic and strength training. Muscle burns more calories than fat..

I like Weight Watchers because there is an app for your phone that when you are eating out it shows how many points any food item is..

Tracking and counting calories is a pain. But it is so necessary if you are going to ever learn how your body processes fuel. For me the total transparent honesty when I began tracking was very painful. I gained those 15 pounds because of what I ate and it was in black and white in front of me.

I only track now ( and use only sparks people now with the knowledge I gained at WW) when the needle on the scale creeps in the wrong direction. I can see my poor choices more quickly now and make changes.

Good luck. Feeling more energetic and healthy will far outweigh being able to button your old jeans.

The 5 bite diet and have lost 40 lbs in 3 months

Funny this was mentioned. I never heard of the 5-bite diet until yesterday so I youtube'd the video about it. I understand the theory and it produces good results but I can easily eat a Big Mac in 5 bites if I really tried so this would't be a good option for me.

The best way that I am able to lose weight, and keep it off as long as I keep my eating in check, is counting calories and reducing carbs. I use FitnessPal, too.

My weight loss "plan" is to eat less and move more. I have been limiting my refined carbs (white flour), fat (from beef/pork), and sugar.

I have been eating more vegetables, fruits, and lean meats (i.e., turkey, chicken, fish). I am trying to walk more and I lift hand weights at home periodically. I need to improve my exercise, but this has resulted in a loss of 17 lbs. since January.

Slow and sure wins the race regarding weight loss. It's not flashy - there isn't instant gratification, but it's sustainable.
