I signed my daughter up for 3rd grade and for after school care at a nearby aquatic center, got a document mailed, got my Oregon driver license (will get plates and registration tomorrow since the inspection thing is closed today), went grocery shopping. She'll be flying here on Saturday. She's 8 now, so she doesn't need a booster seat any more. Makes me remember all the child seats she's had since she was born.

On the minus side it's close to 100 today, but inside temp is holding at 84.7. :)

Awesome, PIC! Must feel good to check some big things off that to do list. And it will feel even better to have your DD with you come Saturday!

It's a hot one here today! Good job for being so productive. I'm just working at my desk with the fan blowing right on me.

Ugh. Tired of this heat.

Woo! How excited are you to see her? How's she getting to you? Do you also get stuck seeing your ex?

Very excited! Slightly apprehensive because she has SO much energy and in the past I've had trouble keeping up, but in the spirit of my new attitude of not stressing out about things that are ridiculous to stress out about, I'm just going to have faith that we will find ways to have a good life together. Also I'm getting better all the time.

Most notably, and surprisingly to me, I'm feeling gradually less numb as my antidepressant dose is lowered. For example, I heard about Robin Williams' death and for about 20 minutes I was thinking to myself "Everyone seems really affected by this and I wish I could feel stuff like this the way they do." Then I started getting a flood of memories related to him and now I'm shocked/sad to the point where it's hard for me to type this. But... it feels good in a way to be able to feel it.

She will be flying as an unaccompanied minor. She will be seen all the way to the gate by her mom, get on a flight that spends about two hours in the air (with some supervision by a flight attendant), and then I will be on the gate on the other side. I think it was around $110 one way plus $25 unaccompanied minor fee plus $25 per luggage bag.

I won't have to see my ex in person until around next May or June which is when she and her husband plan to move out here and assuming all goes according to plan we will go back to a more frequent exchange schedule.

Yeah... around February I realized that she was toxic and I went as much NC as possible except for issues related to my daughter, so I suppose you could say I got sick of seeing her. :) I also avoided seeing her in person to the extent that I could.

Sheesh.. this whole post was hard to type. The Robin Williams thing is distracting me a lot. Poor guy. :(

"get sick" - totally meant "get stuck" - silly autocorrect.

Heh, I'm so literal sometimes.

I suppose I am stuck with XW for the time being, in a sense.

Today.. so far, I've gone to the DMV for Oregon plates, title, and registration, so combined with the in-state driver license I got yesterday, I've done all my business there. Makes me feel more like I live here.

I actually find driving around doing errands to be soothing. I think a large part of that is that it's really beautiful here and it was, in my opinion, ugly back where I came from.

Also I grabbed a small dining room table, couple chairs, and an area rug for the dining room (you know, kids... it's carpeted). I evaluated craigslist and other sources and ended up going with Amazon for these particular goods. The table and the rug arrived today.

So I have (minus the dining room chairs which should be here tomorrow):

desktop computer, computer chair, computer desk (inexpensive starter until I figure out what I really want); queen bed for me; full size bed for my daughter; dining room rug, table and two chairs; trash containers in all areas; fans for each area; laundry hampers for each bedroom; very basic kitchen stuff

Still to get at some point.. including, but not limited to:

couch; container to file things in (stuff builds up fast...); at least one bookcase; decorations, probably including a lot of printed photos in frames--both pictures of people and places; more stuff for my daughter's room; dressers (i'm hanging everything up right now); more kitchen stuff

Ahh, yes, IKEA. I suppose it might have more uses than the use of XW dragging me through it to feed her need to acquire more clutter. :)

And just signed up for a credit union account (checking and savings). A little awkward to deposit paper checks otherwise since my current bank doesn't have branches here.

Well done PIC, you have got so much done. I really hope your daughter loves the new location and you are both very happy there.
