A while back, someone shared a hilarious online dating story about a cheap guy who took her on a picnic. Not that a picnic is a bad date. I was rolling when she described what he packed.

Would anyone like to brighten our day with some brief stories about your experience with online dating?

How can you not swoon when you get a message from a guy with the username myhandsrbig2.

Back off ladies...he is all mine.

Not!

This occurred after I kicked XWH out, but prior to meeting and dating late WH.

I was chatting for a couple of weeks via OLD with a guy. We decided to meet and set a day and time. I got to the restaurant first and was sitting out front.
I see several people walking toward me including the guy I'm supposed to meet.
The group passes by and my date stops and shakes my hand. Then I notice a 4ish year old standing nearby. Then my date introduced his SON.

Yep. The idiot brought his CHILD on a first date.

I wish I were kidding.

Skeered, you're thinking of Sazzy's date with Cheesy Nut Man I think.

I'm off to meet another Boat Guy this aft. Will report back later.

Matched and chatted twice with a guy on Tinder, agreed to meet in person at Starbucks. I knew immediately he wouldn't be my type (very negative), but stayed 2 hours because I had originally said that was my time frame while waiting on my son at a birthday party nearby.

He walked me to my car, got my # and then sent me a text 30 mins later asking me out.

When I said thanks, but we're not a match, etc. He wrote back "You owe me $3.50 for the coffee."

Nice.

Survive, you also owe me $3.50 for the coffee I just spit on my keyboard.

I went out once with a guy that neglected to tell me that he had Tourette's. I spent an entire meal seated across from him while he jerked his head and said "cha-CHiNG!"rather loudly.

I had one date with a man that said that he was 50 but had to be close to 70 when I met him. At the end of the date, he asked me to quit my job and move to Florida with him. After that date, I went home and deleted my online profile- I then proceeded to get completely trashed on wine coolers.

Those are 2 of my bad ones, but I have an entire highlight reel of terrible dates.....

I'll tell you the same thing I texted back to him:

The check's in the mail...

I don't have any fun stories. bummer.
There's the guy who keeps wanting to meet - until you actually say when you are free and he then disappears.... the guy who wanted a picture of my fingernails.. and the guy who seems like a nice sensitive guy until he just keeps getting weepy over just about anything..

GabyBaby posted 4/26/2016 20:30 PM

I went out with a guy who, on his profile, listed his height as 5ft 8in.
When I met him at the restaurant, he was wearing shoes with heels...and barely stood at my height of 5ft 5in.
His height wouldn't have been an issue had he not lied about it.

Williesmom posted 4/26/2016 20:54 PM

I have more. In my first online foray, I had bare feet in my profile pic.

I had one guy that sent me multiple daily messages asking if I was wearing shoes, if my toenails were polished, etc. then he would send me a message detailing his current footwear status.

I also had a guy that whipped out a coupon on the first date. Then when we left the restaurant, he just walked away from me.

I also had a guy that left me standing in the middle of the street in a not-so-nice part of Pittsburgh at midnight. I didn't even know which parking garage I had parked in. He just walked away from me- rude!

Are there no good stories?

SallyShrink81 posted 4/27/2016 08:16 AM

Funny stories....

So I'm a psychologist which I know sounds intimidating but also brings out the weirdos/freaks. I had one guy back in September when I told him that I was a therapist he started talking about a detailed fantasy about having sex with a therapist. Then he sent me a dick pic of his very small dick. ***BLOCKED***
Another guy seemed okay until he sent me a good morning selfie and he looked like he was strung out on drugs... like a hardcore night of partying with Ozzy Osborne

You want a good story, Shiloe?
I had been single for about 9 months and had just ventured into the OLD pool. I met a guy on line. He was tallish, big boned, bald and rugged. The opposite of WXH in a physical way which was attractive to me. I was in my motorcycle rider phase. He had a Harley.

We met on Match.com, we talked on line and on the phone and decided to meet on a Saturday at a local bar with a patio. It was a beautiful early summer day--light breeze, not a cloud in the sky. We talked, and laughed a lot, had a couple of Shandies (which he introduced me too, and which I still love in the summer). A couple of pleasant hours pass. He had ridden his motorcycle up from another town and I walked him to his bike. He pulled me up close and we stood against a tree in the parking lot and kissed like a couple of teenagers for 30 minutes.

It was great make out session. I felt like I had been starving and the man offered me a steak.Left weak kneed to go on another first date that evening. During that date, Lunchtime Date Guy texted me saying "that poor second guy doesn't stand a chance after our kisses, does he?"

We only dated a couple of months. It turned out we didn't really have that much in common other than really hot initial chemistry.

Wow! some amazing stories! lol

First text from a girl was her showing me her....boobs. Nice, but not a girl to introduce my kids to. lol

One wanted to get married after only one date.

One wanted sex on first date.....even though she was on her first day of her...well...that monthly situation.

All these women were in their 40's.

I did make some fantastic friends! Caring and good women, distance and kids were an issue.
There are some really great people out there on OLD. There are also some crazy people.
Since I attract them crazies, maybe I am one! LOL!

If you don't know which one you, you probably are :)

I own up to it. I even have it in my online profile.

BrokenheartedUK posted 4/27/2016 10:16 AM

Oh I have one!! I matched with a guy with only one photo on his profile with his face sort of turned so it was like a 3/4 shot. But he was interesting and I figured why not?

We met for coffee in my town, and he had completely neglected to mention that he was deaf. I think he was lip reading. But he was hard to understand. Also, he had a terribly disfiguring scar on his face. Plus at least three inches shorter then what he said was his height.

So...that was the quickest coffee I have ever had. If he had mentioned that he was deaf when we were exchanging messages that would have been so much easier to deal with, but the combination was a bridge too far.

I met a guy for coffee for a first date, at the Starbucks inside the Barnes & Nobles. I didn't recognize him because he used a picture from years ago and about 30 lbs ago. I thought maybe I was overreacting, so I thought I'd give him a chance. Then, I noticed that he appeared high, like his eyes were like slits. So, again, I talked myself out of it thinking maybe that's just how his eyes are. Until it wore off about an hour later, than I knew he had smoked up before our date.

Then he tells me that that day is his birthday. Which I thought was odd. He said he was meeting friends later.

I was polite and talked, but knew he wasn't for me. I barely got home and he was messaging me, which I thought was a bit too much.

He kept messaging me, so I told him we weren't really a good match. He kept asking why? Why? Why? Then, he turned on me since he was rejected and was telling me that I was fatter in real life than I was in pictures, which was so not true, I posted a recent, full bodied pic which clearly showed I am not a supermodel, but not severely obese either.

He made me decide that OLD was not for me.

Jls0320 posted 4/27/2016 11:18 AM

I've been on A LOT of dates, most were fine but just not a good match for me. I had one a few months ago that invited me to lunch then expected to split the bill. fine, but he had 3 drinks, a pricier meal and I had a sandwich and water. I said no and never saw him again.
Kind of scary one, met guy for coffee and after we got drink he expected me to get in his car with him and go for a walk at a nearby park. It was night, I said no thank you and he kept pushing the issue and even got pissy about it. My alarm bells were going off so I cut date short and he kept bringing it up that I wouldn't go with him. That one bothered me for awhile.

Good one, my current SO and I met online, he's wonderful. Very attentive, loves to cook for me and do things with me. We enjoy similar activities and have been dating almost 2month now

Reading these stories has brought back memories of some weird / bad dates that I've had.

Yes, one of my dates whipped out a coupon, too. I'm sorry. That just screams CHEAP -- on a first date, anyway. Then he would not go away. He kept texting me around 11:00 at night. Then he showed up at my work TWICE. Finally, he showed up at my church. It was just TOO MUCH.

I spoke to another guy for almost 6 hours on the phone one night. In his pic, he was very tall, dark, and ruggedly handsome. We just KNEW we were a match so we set a dinner date for the next evening. As I was on the way to meet him, he texted that a couple of friends were going to join us. I thought that was crazy but said ok. The couple, as well as his 12-year old son were there when I arrived. The guy looked about 15 years older than his pic. He wore old man glasses and had his hair slicked back like a TV preacher from the early 70's. After dinner, we walked out to the parking lot where it was flashback to the 80's when I saw his Lincoln Town Car. We walked to a store next door. When he started dancing there in the store, it was just TOO much. I ended the date. He sent me a text later telling me that his son and friends loved me and couldn't wait to get together again.
